3rd Gen TPMS Disable

    Has anyone figured out how to disable TPMS on the 3rd gens? I followed the thread in the 2nd gen and sucessfully disabled my 14, which I traded on my 16. Any input would be appreciated. And yes I did some searching first and have not found anything, if there is a post I missed please forgive me.

    You cannot disable it, it is a safety feature. Of course, you can remove the TPMS sensors and deal with the light if you want... but it cannot be turned off. Some people have made a pressurized air tube with the sensors in there so that the light will stay off.

    ALL 2008 and newer passenger vehicles and light trucks sold are now required to have a system to alert the driver when the tire pressure drops below 10% of the recommended tire pressure.
    The only way to disable would be to completely remove the TPMS sensors from the tires (NOT RECOMMENDED, and your TPMS dash light will be on all the time) or search youtube for recommended pressure canisters you can place the TPMS sensors in.
    as @GotToyota stated, TPMS IS a safety feature ...

    Thanks for the info that TPMS is a safety feature. I don't want the safety feature on my truck, nor do I want the brittle aluminum valve stems that will break off when off road with no easy trail fix. There is an entire thread on the 2nd gen forum about how to bypass the light. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/complete-tpms-disable-guide.161292/ I am looking for how to disable this "safety feature"

    That guide should be compatible or pretty similar for the 3rd gens.

    I have off road tires and rims without sensors, I want to disable the light on the dash.

    thanks, I may venture in and try it. It was pretty easy on my 14, it took longer to take the dash apart than to do the mod.

    Toyota running boards/Solid Fold 2.0/custom stickers/Anti-Dark LED light under hood/Derped grill/Scoop, etc.
    I did this on my 2006 and this 2016.... It's easy, cheap and reversible in 3 seconds.... I change to snow tires every fall...!!

    By far the best way..! 3/4" round piece of black tape placed "strategically" will solve yer problem..! Don't block the other Idiot lites.

    Starting over.......
    I have used the "Pipe Bomb" for 4 years, no issues.

    Pull the sensors out of the tires and seal them up in an 8" long tube of ABS pipe. Drill hole in end cap and seat a valve stem. Inflate to 32psi, toss behind back seat and forget. Have added air once In2Gro years.

    Leave the sensors in there for the next guy and a little dull black paint behind the tpm indicator. Paint the bulb or simply remove the bulb or cover the bulb. It's just a light.
