I hate that the lens has engraved letters..would look so much better if it was perfectly smooth...

How do you figure they will hold up to rock chips, bugs etc?

I figured vinyl would be more durable.

It Will NOT work from the inside.
The chrome plating is adhered to the inside of lens. Tinting Over it would do nothing to the chrome, and only darken the window slit where the light comes though. If that makes sense..

Trust me...I have atempted numerous methods Trying to remove the chrome (sandblast, solvent thinner, etc) that crap is stuck on there. So the only 2 options to get rid of it are:
    1)tint over the top(Outside)
2)get custom lens made that doesn't have the chrome plating(expensive because I have to buy 1000)

The vinyl overlay was an awesome solution. But had a few cases where it developed bubbles on the tight curves. I don't see any issues with the spray tint with regards to durability, and longevity. Worst case, could always throw a clear over the top too.

How will it hold up to pressure washing and scrubbing bugs off. We're not going to have to baby these are we? I live in the country and pressure wash (2000 psi) the front of my vehicles to get the bugs off. Like I mean I have to clean my windshield daily in the morning before I leave for work it's so bad. Our bugs have superglue for blood/guts.

I definitely want an extra coat or two of clear please.

    Thanks,
    Rob

Not kidding you, I have a 100 mile round trip commute. Very first day a shit hawk bombed me end to end. Ate the wax off. Mirrors and front end are covered with skeeters and all kinds of bugs. Like if I want to keep the plastic Pro grill free of scratches I'll have to lay a a wet hot towel on it to warm them up. You can't even wash my windshield clean. It needs polish to get the splatters off.

I even have bugs splattered on the leading edge of my factory fender flares.

Out of curiosity, what was the cost on that 500 pair lens order? This generation is still very new and I bet if it saves you tons of time and the smoke is integrated so it's a better product, you will sell out eventually. Maybe we can crowd fund it?

The clearcoating should do the trick. There have been alot of improvements from the first gen mirror signals so if you say it cant be done, then it cant be done! Lookong forward to seeing these new and improved lens with the tint sprayed and clearcoated. Just Awesome!
