I need the torque spec for these brackets that the skid plate bolts on too. I believe they are support brackets as well so I don't want to fudge this up. They might be called support channels or something like that.

    Thanks

I already sheared two of the skid plate bolts trying to get them out. They were rusted to hell. So I'm not messing around with hand tightening any more

Tight but not too tight, if you don't know when that is then use a shorter ratchet and some blue loctite. You can get baseline numbers by looking up nominal values for the size thread and grade of bolt if you want general ballpark.

If I had to take a random guess I would say maybe 25-30 ft pounds.

Seriously just did this last night and have done it in the past by putting however much leverage you can manage with a 1/2" drive ratchet.

yea I would never torque those, just tight, they aren't critical by any means.

Do I see some money to throw down? Close as you can without going over?

I actually think I could find out from the FSM if anyone has one for a second gen, I only have them for land cruisers and first gens.

I can look on Mitchell tomorrow morning. I'm kind of curious myself. Not that it's a bolt worth a torque spec anyway.

I'd agree, actually be surprised if a value is listed at all, they are completely superfluous besides holding the tinfoil skidplate.

I know I got torque specs for all critical bolts. I don't know if I have listings for body panels and stuff like that. Worth a look in the morning.

I stopped paying for mitchell when I lost the free time to fix other peoples cars, I know I can guess on my own vehicles haha, plus I have FSMs for them. I bet there is a table of general rules for bolt size that they use in the body panel section.

If it's not structural, I might just crank them down to about 25 ftlb. And get the skids to 22. I'd prefere a tinfoil skid plate to no skid plate @Speedytech7 lol
