Idk. These are a little over the top, maybe I'll do a less extreme version.

Do it! But you have to do the grill to match. Can't have Copper and chrome.

Anyone that's installed these have issues with FM radio reception? I'm preparing to send a sent back because they destroyed my radio reception. Turning them off and on would make the radio go from complete static to none. I talked to the manufacturer (Winjet) and they think they're defective. Honestly, it says cheap LEDs to me. I've had this issue before on another vehicle.

LOL, so what say ye, oh master of all thing lite and brite? Is it possible for the LEDs assembly to cast evil spells on the audio device?

Edited so my question was written like someone with half a brain at least wrote it.

Now that I have some time let me explain a little further. This is from the Winjet lights. I've spoken to their engineer a few times and he's stumped. Seem like real nice folks, but that doesn't help me much.

Anyway, in my previous car I installed an auxiliary brake light that was LED. It caused a little bit of static when I pressed the pedal. I did some Google-fu and discovered the LEDs have EMI issues, but that well-built ones won't cause problems. I was able to fix this car by installing a ferrite bead on the wiring.

Fast forward to the Tacoma. I had no freaking clue what was causing the interference; just that it had started after I installed the taillights. I had popped a fuse in the process and only had the not-low-clearance versions in the garage. Anyway, went to go replace it with a low-clearance fuse after I purchased them. The truck was running because I thought I had blown a fuse on a signal booster and was checking all the fuses (which were all good). I gave up and went to go switch the fuses. As soon as I pulled out the taillight fuse all the static on the radio went away. That was when I knew what was going on.

I tried ferrite beads on the Tacoma lights and it didn't help at all. Winjet thinks I have a bad board or something and wants me to exchange them. I'm not even sure I want to.

Nice explanation Man! Really!! I would be so lost. This kind of stuff is way beyond my thought processes. Good luck. I mean, are they willing to ship you a pair then you return yours? Did you keep the OEMs? Would suck to have your truck down for a period of time otherwise, only to find out all their lights are bad. It's nice however they are willing to work with you. Good to hear.

Yes totally possible. I've worked in the 12V Car audio industry for more than a decade and have seen some weird stuff like this.

That's crazy. I thought LEDs were like what Solid State Drives were to computers.......I guess if it electricity involved it's susceptible to faults......wild.

I have the Winjets boxed up and waiting to go back to the vendor. I just need an email and a return label.

Fortunately, I saved my OEM lights. I've been doing this for too many years to just get rid of them! The best part is that I had chucked the incandescent bulbs, so I got some Phillips LEDs to replace them to see if I would be happy with just the LED bulbs in the OEM stuff. I get everything ready to go and I start the truck and I have an ABS error! Once again, I check all the fuses and nothing is blown.

A little more Google-fu and it looks like Toyota takes some sort of signal off the brake lights and since these are LEDs the ABS computers don't see the signal and think something's wrong. I'm not sure I'm 100% correct on this, but I saw other Toyotas that exhibited the same problems.

Why didn't the Winjets do this? They have a built in resistor! This whole LED adventure has been a huge PITA (there's been other associated fun).

My LED tail lights have NO resistor in the brake circuit. NO errors, no problems. The only resistor I install is on the turn signal circuit to prevent hyperflash.

Doesn't surprise me. I've seen a few posts on here that have LED bulbs that didn't need resistors. I have a set coming from VLED that I don't think need a resistor. Better not anyway!

Are you running LEDs in the front turn signals as well? If so, did that require two pairs of resistors or one?
