When i was younger I thought toppers were dumb. Got older and now I have had them on both of my trucks. Keeps the dogs safer in their kennels and keeps my other shit dry.

I'm going to the century dealer today and get a quote. I got a 2015 DCLB,what are you all doing at the front bed rail? Taking the side plastic caps off to make the whole bed even for sealing? I really don't want to just slap a bunch of foam seal on the front.

I'm looking at getting a canopy, especially since my boss said he'd spring for it (within reason). (I use my truck moving things from site to site, in the winter - a lot of cardboard boxes that would not be good to get wet.)
Considering the ARE Z series, the Leer 100 XR (I prefer the look of the solid glass on the side but I want sliders, and since I'm all black, I don't think it'll look that much different. The other one I'm looking at is the Century Ultra Sport.

Some day in the future, it might be cool to do a RTT. So, should I get roof tracks, or are these canopies not even strong enough to hold all that weight?

    Any thoughts?

100XR, and get the wireless lock option, and have them also install a popnlock in the tailgate. Whole system keys off the passenger doors. Super slick.

Softopper ftw, had one for a month now and love it. It rained overnight and this morning and no leaks or poolage at all.

Oh and they're much much cheaper than fiberglass

Had a '10 Ranger with a cap, and it was nice some of the time but was often frustrated when trying to move larger items. Also takes multiple people to remove, and a large footprint to store when not in use.

When I got my '17 taco I decided to get both a new bestop soft topper along with a used craigslist find OEM tonneau. Soft top is nice during the summer months, camping, and longer road trips where the bed would be loaded taller than tonneau. OEM tonneau is nice for winter (bestop material shrinks up in cold weather), ability to lock, ability to fill from the side with yard waste, and every day use. Both options can be removed/put back on by myself in just a few minutes, and take very little room to store when not in use. All in cost was around $900 (about the price of any after market trifold hard tonneau) and I have options to satisfy just about every situation.

Should fit since they are both 2nd Gens. You should check how the cap attaches to the rails to make sure it will work on the '08.

Hey tacomafia you could always check to see if the cap could be shipped back to get them installed. Or done locally. It looks looks like you got the loot. That's looks like that truck is right at home in that setting

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I asked him if it connected to the tracks inside. How do I mount it if that's not what he has?
Maybe I can order some of those clamps that ARE uses? They should work, eh?
