    True story.

Just for clarification, while ComeUp appears new to the market now they have actually been around for 42 years making winches for other world markets and also manufacture huge industrial winches. They used to make Superwinch which is why the ComeUp name was never in the US market. That agreement went away and Superwinch quality has gone downhill since then. ComeUp has a full supply of parts for new(if needed) and older winches and a full US customer service dept. I needed a outer cone cover for my older DV-9S earlier this year. Had the part in a week.

Are you aware of failures with the HF?
I havent heard of any first hand.
I have heard first hand accounts of failures with warn, superwinch, smittybilt, etc.
Granted, that may just be because they're more prevalent?
I've had mine apart (just because, not due to failure) and everything looked good after years of use, weather, submersion, etc.
Planetary gears and it hasnt failed me yet. Happy with my purchase.
If it broke down tomorrow for some reason (I have no reason to suspect it would) I'd probably buy another. I've used it enough and had it long enough that it wouldn't bother me.

Never stated I had seen a failure. Simply stated they were disposable because there is ZERO parts support. Sort of like buying a Hugo. :D

Yes. Though, it was 12+ years ago. So, it may not be the same manufacturer, model, etc. available these days. It was under such heavy use in a particular situation that it just stopped working. IIRC it was really warm/hot and the motor didn't like it... but after it cooled down it came back to life. Eventually, the case cracked on it and was tossed. The guy didn't have the money for a name-brand winch, so he went HF.

In my mind (given some of the predicaments my winch has gotten me out of over the years), a winch ought to go onto the "buy once, cry once" list. Like @Star-Lord , I too go out alone many times. Having a winch you feel you can trust is necessary.

I've only ever had one winch, a Warn M10000, and it's still going. It should be at least 15 years old, if not more. About 10 years ago, it did misbehave one time and turned out to be a loose nut on one of the solenoids (intermittent working/not working). That was the only problem I've ever had with it, and was an easy fix. Only gets used once a year or two these days. Had to use it in the past month, and worked like a charm. It's paid for itself, for sure.
