Discussion in '2nd Gen. Tacomas (2005-2015)' started by stickyTaco, Aug 7, 2017.

?

Are you running a swaybar?

  1. Yes, I'm not a heathen

  2. No, I have a complete disregard for the safety of others but DROOP!

  3. I have no idea....I'll ask the dealer to check when they top off my blinker fluid

Yeah, I think the no swaybar issue is a little different for first gens especially when you lift them. I'm not confident enough in the 881s but upgrading to heavier coils in the future and I'll give it a shot.

" 6" DB lift"! LOL, you are already showing your lack of knowledge. DB kits are good for mall crawling, thats all

Hey @Coolidge, did you wander into the 2nd gen forum on accident? Unless you actually have something to contribute you can bounce now ;)

So I'm not 2nd gen but the suspension is quite similar. I hear lots of people talking about stiffer springs as a a method to compensate for body roll in turns. I think another reason for the stiffer spring is because the sway bar increases spring rate in a way by tying the two springs together in a way. Has anyone removed the sway bar on stock springs with positive results? Also has anyone increased the compression of the shock to slow down sudden reactions like jumps and evasive maneuvers?

I'm on stock sprigs, but they are preloaded a bit with my 5100's and I also have a trd off road which came with progressive rate coils, so maybe that stiffened it up as well. I don't notice any ill effects on road. Definitely doesn't feel like a swaying sail boat as my 1st Gen did.
Rough city streets to off road for work, it rides so much smoother now, like an entirely different truck.

I have a db lift and I've had it off-road in Colorado. No concerns noted other than a bumpy ride but that was probably because I had 45 psi in all 4 tires. King coilovers and deaver leaf packs will be coming soon. Love the db lift.

When I put on the fox coil overs I ditched the sway bar and don't really miss it.
Tight turns are a pain but off road is much better...

I would be up for maybe getting a smaller sway bar, But don't think I'm going to put one back on...
If any thing I'll add a few clicks on the shocks...

I just removed my swaybar last night and man my off road ride is soooo much smoother :bananadance:

I drive over the median coming out of my favorite gas station because there is no way to get to the other side and my truck felt stiff going over it with the sway bar, it would hobble over it awkwardly. I did it today without swaybar and it was smooth as butter, no fuss it just crawled right over it without any herky jerky business.

There must be a difference between a lowered street only truck and a lifted off-road oriented truck. :goingcrazy:
