Ordered some new uca's today! Going to order coilovers tomorrow, I was set on ADS but now I'm thinking kings so I can use the price difference to buy some new rear leafs. Any opinions on coil rate for the kings?

A couple random questions that Ive been curious about but never ask:
What is the purpose of the front diff actuator? I assumed that when you put it into 4wd the transfer case did all the work, but apparently the front diff does something too, does it lock the front driveshaft in or something?
Is the paint along the bottom of my truck supposed to have this wrinkled look?

 

front diff actuator disconnects the passenger cv from diff. this makes so the drivers side cv just spins the spider gears freely and not the carrier and driveshaft. this creates a little less drag improving mpgs and makes it a little easier to stear (ive driven with it engaged and you actually can feel a difference).

 

Hood is an R/T style fiberglass off ebay. Tool box holds well with the glass. I cut out the outside skin of the bed and left the rails. The glass hangs over the OEM rails so it's plenty sturdy.

 

When installing a waterpump, does the order go gasket on first and then FIPG? I didn't count on getting a gasket with my timing belt kit. Thank you!

Also, I was matching part numbers up with my timing belt and it looks like it's the same, but maybe a new part number? I'll match them for size etc. tomorrow when I take it off:



One last thing:

My donor engine came out of a truck that was in a front collision that damaged the power steering reservoir. This is the fan mount that is close to it and it looks like it's possibly cracked or has some funky casting flash. The thing that throws me off is that the casting flash / crack is worst on the side of the power steering pump that would seem to indicate a crack, but there are the same kind of raised marks on the other side on parts that don't bear any weight and seem to be where the casting is poured. The inside of the part looks good.

No fpig on the new pump. Revised gasket makes the fpig no longer needed, just clean the old fpig off real well and install with gasket and torque to spec

 

Also on the fan pulley/ dummy pump, mine had what looked like cracks as well, but it was just the casting. Hard to tell from the pics but yours looks similar to mine in that respect

yes sir, other way to tell if your pump takes FPIG is if it has grooves or its flat on the matting surface. but that gasket is definitely for a non FPIG pump

 

It's flat. What does that mean - no fpig?

 

Yup, the grooved one let the FPIG seal better, flat is gasket only.

 

Thank you man - I would have f'd that up if it wasn't for you - I'm glad too, the fpig was the part I wasn't really comfortable with even though I just did my valve cover gaskets yesterday with the cam plugs and half moons w/ permatex fpig.

 

Always a pleasure to help, and yea the Fpig is kind of a pain but once you do it a few times its not too bad, Just make sure you clean the matting surface on the block nice and good, I've had to redo water pumps from people who just threw the gasket on and didn't bother with removing the old FPIG
