It really just all depends quite honestly. Depends on location mainly, if anything, as that is "key"!!! Where and how YOU (Bryan) mount your antenna is by FAR the better way to go because you are well above any "structure"!!!

When it still comes to tuning, sometimes you simply don't need to actually tune the antenna. It would HELP as far as "optimizing" TX output, but if you're getting a really good SWR of 1.5 or less, you're practically TX'ing "full power out" of your radio. Here is a chart: (NOTE: this is NOT my writing, but I already know this and just in case you guys didn't, this is basically how it works... see the RED paragraph just below)
    vswr.jpg

"To make use of this chart we will take an example of 4 watts of forward power and having an SWR reading of 2.0:1. If you follow the bottom (VSWR) and find 2.0 (drop down-lines) we move across to the left and where the two points intersect is 11% power loss. We take 4 watts multiplied by the 11% we get at total of 0.44 watts or 440 milli-watts of power being lost or absorbed. This means we have a total of 3.56 watts of forward power going to the antenna. For simplicity sake we will not be using effective ERP which involves more decibel calculations.

If you look at the chart below, you will have the calculated values for loss, which will break down the values into smaller SWR numbers. Usually an SWR of 2:1or less is very acceptable, which is about a loss of 11 percent or 0.44 watts.
    "

My anti-virus didn't care for this particular website very much, which is why I didn't want to post a link!!! But, what you see above is really ALL you need to know and understand.

    Right.
But my set up as you know we would have to manipulate male and female connectors to go to the srw meter and yet I've never had to use one and my shit works great!

That doesn't matter. SWR is all about the antenna feed and nothing else. All SWR cares about is, literally, the antenna output connector, through the RF cable, on into the antenna! And if you happen to have ANY "standing waves" (hence, Standing Wave Ratio) that are being reflected back due to an untuned antenna, which, again, some times there is no need to tune it (i.e. you pretty much got lucky in that sense), and/or there is something very near the antenna setup, which is going to literally reflect BACK part of the RF signal back down the antenna, through the RF cable and into your radio's output... essentially, burning your radio's "output finals" (i.e. the RF amp part of the circuit, if you will).

So, strictly from the radios antenna output port, through the RF cable, and up the length of the antenna.

If you don't need to tune it you simply don't need to tune it!!! It really is as simple as that. Again, the only reason some people need to tune is simply because of the antenna location and the RF reflected signal back to the radio (i.e. SWR). Some people, well, DO NOT have to tune their setup... literally... just because they don't have to.

Can't blame me. I tried bringing up Chapman brewing but no one wanted to go.
Some of those breweries are also only open Friday-Sunday. I'd have to take a better look at that map but I know Bottle Logic is close, but it's always stupid packed with no parking. Then there's 2 really small ones in the structure next to it with only a few beers on tap. Those are Phantom and Hopparzi. Golden Road is relatively close where we went for Rons birthday. Noble alweworks is right near golden road as well but is typically packed and parking sucks. And green cheek, but I know they're only open weekends.
