0-60 times anyone?

Well I was bored...So I decided to see how slowly my tacoma will run 0-60.

Ok this wasn't really set up very well. I was on a blacktop backroad. About 80 degrees outside. Timed it with the stopwatch on my cell phone.

Verdict....9.8 seconds haha. Thats about what I was expecting. I had 1/2 tank of gas. I weigh about 140 and there was maybe 20lbs of crap in the cab.

It is basically stock. Only modification is the secondary air filter was removed.

Regular Cab 4x4 with the 2.7liter 4 cylinder.

 

Makes me happy i have 6 cylinders

Ha you know whats funny. My car is LITERALLY more than twice as fast as my truck haha.

 

lol trust me my 0-60 is plenty better than 8's, i promise

It's hard to time it from a dead stop, i get major traction issues. I am in the process of tuning but when im done ill give it a shot.

 

Sounds like I hear a long list of excuses coming......

On the traction note. So I'm thinking I should try it in four wheel drive, then I should try it with the throttle all the way into second gear.

How I did it was I took off without wheelspin in first then when I shifted into second I let off just a tad so I didn't spin.

I suppose if I really try and i'm rough on my drivetrain I could probably knock a bit off that time. Put it in 4wd and take off with the tach around 4k. Ehh i'm good at blowing things up. I think i'll leave that for my car.

 

Yea im sure with a bit more practice you could do better.

as for me making excuses, i have a S/C'd X-runner, so traction is a major issue for me, and if its not properly tuned, its at risk of going boom...

and i dont want it going boom

Nice, that should make for low 13's MAYBE high 12's.

Thats what I don't like about the 4.0liter. If you supercharge it you have detonation issues because of the stupid high compression ratio.

Once mine is paid for i'm going to turbocharge it. 400whp is probably going to be my goal. That won't be for probably 3 or 4 years though.

 

starting in 4wheel is a BAD idea and doin 60 mph in 4 wheel is a very BAD Idea. throw some weights in the back of that thing and let it rip

 

Yeah, just reinforcing the 4x4 thing. DON'T DO IT. The 4wd is limited to about 60 and you should not run your 4wd on pavement. Moreover, it will create more drag so it probably wont help your time much.

 

well unfortunately being in Arizona where it's 115 degrees out right now is my main problem. Also with the supercharger it causes a lot of added heat. When it was colder out here and i was running meth/water injection i was at 8.5psi with no problems at all. If i can make 350rwhp on a S/C system on this truck, you can make 400rwhp with a nice turbo setup.

 

Nice I was waiting for you to tell him what you got under your hood. My stock @ss x-runner runs something close to 6.7 secs to 60.

 

Does your supercharger system have an intercooler? If it doesn't it sounds like its time to squeeze one on there somehow.

 

Er... I don't think that my 4 cylinder is that fast. Granted I have an AccessCab, but I am 2WD.

 

Well time it! I'm very interested to see what some of the other 4 cylinders can do.

Water cooled or air to air?

If its air to air...have you ever considered a compressed c02 system on it? It sprays liquid c02 on the fins and the c02 changing from a liquid to a gas freezes your air charge. They work wonders. I have a buddy with a lancer evo that has one. On a dyno run with it running he got 47 more whp with it...I'm guessing its probably a water cooled one anyways though right? Thats how most superchargers are set up.

 

Yep, water cooled. I've been considering getting a couple SPAL fans and placing them on the heat exchanger to help pull out heat.

 

Yeah that might help a little bit. THe problem is the stupid high compression ratio toyota started with on the 4.0liter. The best way to solve your problem would be to rebuild your engine with lower compression pistons...but i'm sure you probably dont want to do that.

My turbo car... the few days in texas it gets around 10-20 degrees outside...OMFG it pulls like mad. That cold air does wonders when your running a force fed setup.
