I had a 99 Tacoma. Never had a problem of any kind in 100000 miles, so about the same time period.

Mazda made their own trucks. When it was time to redesign their trucks, they simply sold rebadged Rangers. Used the Ford engines transmissions,, everything except for maybe the radio and the badges. Same with the Mazda Navajo, which was a rebadged Ford Explorer.

It won't be that hard for Ford if Toyota doesn't unfuck this engine transmission combo or resolve the diff howl and vibration issues.

You may be right about that. The survey I took safer i bought my truck made it seem like Subarus were more competition than other trucks.

If Subaru made an outback or crosstrek with some balls and more masculine styling youd see some movement from the weekend warrior crowd.

Not necessarily ...the supply of Tacomas has steadily risen since the advent of the Tacoma .
Toyota has risen there Tacoma production every year. In 2014 -16 Toyota ramped up there production dramatically , yet there those used prices are bigger every time you look.

I know everyone hates this trans/engine combo, but this is my average MPG for a 300 mile round trip. 90 degrees, a/c on and traffic too. I love this truck.

I saw one in the Bahamas a couple of weeks ago and did a double take. Nice looking truck for sure. Hopefully Ford doesn't stray too far from that formula. As others mentioned, more competition is always good for the customer.

They have great resources to fix their problems though. They use race teams, mechanics, NASA. I like Ford's R&D. At least I did.

That's fine. I need Ford to exist in this market. Same with the frontier. I need both of them to be good enough to pull some buyers away from Toyota. I need them to put pressure on Toyota to fix obvious problems.

I don't care if they have problems of their own honestly. I need them to be good enough to pressure the competition to get better so we all get better choices. Toyota is resting on it's past heritage a bit. A little pressure would do these trucks wonders.

God the amount of Subaru bros I get coming up to my truck and going "nice truck, I used to own a tacoma".

Did they just wake up one day and decide to not purchase or use anything that only fits in a bed, or to not tow anymore? How the he'll was that a lateral movement.

Beats me. To each their own I guess.

The third gen Taco forum is not for 3rd gen Taco owners who are happy with their trucks. It is a nest for the 1st 2nd gen trolls and for the taco hater trolls. Any positive taco love will be shut down by the mods who own T4Rs and subarus.
I personally can't wait for the new ranger to come out. Hopefully all the losers on this forum will buy one the first day and be on the ferd forum right after and we don't have to deal with them anymore. Then maybe the third gen forum will be about third gens and not how the honda el camino is a better truck.

    ...too much shit to list.
Seriously what the hell is wrong with you guys? A perfectly good thread and you have to go and pull the bullshit card. Maybe it's members like you that are the actual reason the 3rd gen section is such a shit show. Always being antagonistic.
