The taller slot is neutral, in 3rd gen that's Blue. Your hot is going to be the white wire. Ground wire just needs to be grounded.

One of the slots on my outlet was taller then the other, on mine, when looking at the plug with ground hole in bottom, the slot on the left is neutral. hse2.gif

Now if I'm installing two plugs do I need to do anything particular with the wiring or is what I mentioned correct

You'd just need to piggyback each wire to each plug, although remember you only have 400watts, so need to be familiar with how many watts each device pulls and not try and overload it. Not sure what would result from doing so, maybe a blown fuse?

Leads me to my next question regarding a in-line fuse. Would it be best to add an in line fuse or is that not really needed?

    DC Outlet Mod:

I would also like to add two more cigarette lighters in my center console area to make three. Right now I have an adapter that is plugged into the one cigarette lighter that has three. I use two of them and have one in the middle open in case it is need for something else. I'd like to get rid of the adapter because it takes up a lot of room in my console and just add two more like the current one. How would I do this? I've been looking at the BreaDeep 3 Way Waterproof & Dustproof Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Motorcycle Marine 12V Power Outlet Adapter Three-hole Panel (Black):

    IMG_0654.PNG.jpg

    IMG_0655.PNG.jpg

    IMG_0656.PNG.jpg

    AC Outlet Mod:

This mod uses the following wire connected to the Power Converter under the center console:

    IMG_0649.jpg

    IMG_0648.jpg

Which you have stated his Red wire pictured above is actually a Blue wire in the 3rd Gen for the Neutral (Bigger Slot) and his Green wire pictured above is a White wire in the 3rd Gen for the Hot (Smaller Slot). Still use T-Taps and Ground the Wire right there by the Power Converter.

    400W Anytime Mod:

This mod uses the following wire connected under the trim in front of the Center Console:

    IMG_0651.jpg

    IMG_0652.jpg

We cut the cut the Purple wire (speed sensor) and tape both ends. The we cut the Pink wire (park/neutral something) and tape the side closest to the Black tubing (drivers side) and Ground the opposite side.

    IMG_0653.jpg

Lastly, what Gauge wire would you suggest using? 10, 12, or 14 gauge? I would think anything smaller than 14 gauge shouldn't be used for the AC/DC Mods.

I'm not really sure where you would put an inline fuse with the inverter, the wires are very thin gauge but I have seen people do duel outlets. I used 14ga wire for the single outlet, should be fine for both...as far as cigarette lighters, you could piggy back off the other lighter wire and put an inline fuse, or better yet run a new thicker gauge wire like 14 or 16 ga straight from the battery with an inline under the hood. Btw, you mentioned you have permanent things connected to the existing 3 hole cigarette lighter. If you do run a wire directly from battery, keep in mind it is not connected to the ignition and will be constant power regardless of truck being on or off.

Yeah I'd prefer not to run another wire. I was hoping to remove factory cigarette lighter and replace with these three. Just not sure on the wire process and want to make sure I do it correctly. Anyone that has installed the two outlets care to share pics of your wiring diagram of the piggy backs.

Do I need two or three in line fuses? Only two correct for the outer cigarette lighters? They rate at 10 AMPs each so should I use a 10 AMP fuse or a 15 AMP? I'm going to use 14 Gauage Wire

Wiring should be simple and since you are already running the 3 cigarette outlet off one you should be fine. Just need to crimp 3 wires into one butt connector, plug that into the factory wire and then run it to each new cig outlet. Same goes for the ground wire.

Or I should be fine as in I don't need any in line fuses?

Thanks for all the help from all those that posted up, I was able to get this done today, along with adding a couple AC outlets to the back of the console. This was the one thing my wife missed from the Jeep, so she'll be happy to have it back again.

Quick question, excuse me if this was something you already stated, but you can shut the outlet off right?

Correct, it runs off the same switch as the in-bed outlet, they come on and go off with it using the factory dash switch.

I wouldn't worry about adding fuses if you're running off the current wiring. It will already be fused.
