Got 7 slots filled with the 80/20 covers I bought.

Bought 6 and then cut them down the size and ended up having enough left over to fill 3 more slots... still have 2 slots to cover but will do that this weekend as it involves some work.

But I covered 3 of the open slots on the cross bar that holds the wind fairing, left one uncovered as I don't think it gets much wind. Then covered 3 on the second crossbar, the one in front and the two on the bottom, and finally put a cover on the front of the 3rd crossbar. More than likely going to put the two that are left on the bottom of the third crossbar.

Guess we shall see if this helps at all or not at all. Still planning on doing the sound deadening on the headliner and what is left over on the floor this weekend so that should provide even more help with wind and road noise.

Simple, effective, and not expensive at all!

Even makes a great place to store groceries when the fridge is not installed in the truck as well!

    No? It's pretty flat.

It may look that way as I cut it to kinda match the curve of the bottom of the floor?

Okay, that is my next step. As you saw I already put in thew sound deadening and I have a mole panel coming in from doc for the rear.

Ha, yea my photog skills are subpar.

Nice. Should work pretty well then.

That reminds me I had a design for a small molle panel in the works to mount to that bottom platform to use as more storage... need to get back to that.

Got the damn headliner out after about 2 hours or so. It was a pain in the ass to actually remove it from the truck... can't wait to try and get it back in the truck tomorrow once I get the sound deadening installed...

So what was the process for removal? Edge trim, sunglass holder, then what?

I didnt think you could get the headliner out of the truck without removing the windshield, Nice to know you can. One day I may pull mine and get it covered in a different fabric. 3rd gen headliner isnt the best for patches. Then again its kinda a waste of money unless it need it for another reason.

    I followed this write up.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...g-sound-deadening.394469/page-4#post-11833715

But essentially just removing as much of the interior as you possibly can.

It was a pain in the ass and you have to bend it to get it out, but it comes out and goes back in. Got it back in earlier before it started to rain. So have not been able to drive at all with it in.

I ended up having enough material to put a second layer on the roof, so I did... then put the ensolite foam on, also was able to put some on the front floor and rear floor as well. Hopefully this will and should really help with wind noise and road noise more.

Is the headliner pretty easy to bend without damaging? Seems likes its pretty rigid in pics I've seen, Never seen one down in person.

Sometime I'm gonna have to ride in it to see how quiet it is! I should wait until I have some spare $$$ though.

Ehhhhhhh? It is pretty rigid and it bounces back pretty easy, I tore one spot on the edge, but I fixed it with some good tape and now that it is up there.... it will not be coming back down ever because I am not doing this again.

I can't wait to actually drive the truck and get it up to 65mph or so to see if it has made a difference or not, hopefully it will as it will make the drive to TN a lot nicer.

Any reason you didn't go over the cross beam roof supports?

Space, since those actually contact the headliner, I did not want to make it harder for it to go back in the truck.

I did however, put material between the supports and the roof though, so there is material there to help with that.

Plan for the weekend as I am not off for 4 full days.
    Wire up ARB Air Compressor
Install and Wire Rear Rock Lights
Possibly get Solar setup installed and wired in
Get the Spare CV and Tie Rod Ends ordered
    Rotate Tires
    Check Fluids
    Check Filters
Get Flag Pole Holder built for the camp site
