Yeah I've read good things. I am a bit concerned about the added weight, they are each 20# heavier than stock. Not so much worried about power loss(6speed gearing helps) but for stopping. They are only going to be about 5 lbs each heavier than my current KO2s though.

It'll affect it a bit for sure. I've got the Tundra brake swap on my to do list someday to improve that, but there are plenty of people that run oversized tires on stock brakes fine. Just make sure they aren't worn and need of replacement anyway. I'm doing for more peace of mind and need new brakes anyway so Tundra for me.

From what I've heard the tundra brakes dont really do much better over stock. I have a friend who did it and says he would not do it again. Which makes sense when you think about it: though you increase your friction surface area(larger pads/rotors) you do not increase your force applied. To really get a significant performance improvement I would think you would need to upgrade your master cylinder too right? I understand putting new SS brake lines helps with responsiveness though so that may be my next upgrade.

The tundra brakes on my first gen didn't feel much different at all when just casually driving and having to stop....But I did notice that when you really need to stop, you will stop, a lot faster lol

SS lines are a good upgrade. Would be a good place to start too. Not sure on the master cylinder and how it ties to the proportioning valve and all that if just a swap there yield much. Would be worth looking into though.

crappy photo I took after slider install but shows my Maxxs. Because moar pics

Thanks. Slowly treating it all new pieces and parts. Tires were a gamble with the 255/85, but so glad I did it. Still need to re touch up that rear fender liner though...

Had 285/75 on it before so not much difference. Braking is piss poor right now because I need new ones :D:bananadead: Haven't been driving it much recently. but it still stops good. Just getting too close for comfort on em.

Last weekend I aired down my Maxxs and put em to work. Couldn't be happier with them!

5100's @2.5 and add a leaf. 255/80R17 Cooper ST Maxx.
Went to citrus wma for the first time with a friend to try out the new tires. No noticible rub anywhere aired down to around 25 psi and no issues. Flex was great and so was traction. Was able to run on 2wd for the great majority of the time. They cleaned out pretty good compared to my friends 255/75r17 duratracs. Happy I went with the 255s over the 285. Haven't had to trim or cut anything only had to remove all mud flaps.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
