The "Super Power" of the world has always been defined by who controls the seas and who can project their forces around the world, (though that might be changing in the near future because of technology)....though look at history.
    Britain, France, U.S. etc.
NK originally got the technology from first the Russians.
    Lots more here:
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_North_Korean_nuclear_program

The Mk/B53 was a high-yield bunker busterthermonuclear weapon developed by the United States during the Cold War. Deployed on Strategic Air Command bombers, the B53, with a yield of 9 megatons, was the most powerful weapon in the U.S. nuclear arsenal after the last B41 nuclear bombs were retired in 1976.

For reference, the ~Hiroshima nuke was 15 kilotons, killed between 90,000 and 160,000 people.

9 megatons is 9,000 kilotons!!!! That's 8,985 kilotons more than what was dropped on Hiroshima!

The largest bomb currently in service in the U.S. nuclear arsenal is the B83, with a maximum yield of 1.2 megatons. Again that's still 1,200 kilotons nearly 120 times the power of what was dropped on a Hiroshima.
The US also has tactical nukes.....smaller yield.

Point is....one nuke of the 1.2 megaton type dropped over NK as an air burst is gonna kill off that peninsula including SK besides the blast, the radiation/fallout will kill off the rest.

No doubt the US knows where any nukes might be in NK.
Which would all be targeted...Tomahawks etc.
Why a bunch of the US Navy is sitting in the Sea of Japan.....
Regardless the Korean Peninsula would be a death zone north and south if any war breaks out.

Also for reference, a ICBM only takes about 12-14 mins of getting to its target since it flies sub-orbital.

I remember as a kid in elementary school once a month we had this 'special' fire drill.....where you were suppose to get under your desk and duck and not to look towards the window if any bright flash.
What they should have been telling us is get under your desk and kiss your ass good-bye.....

Whats also highly probable is like NK launches a icbm with a nuke and the damn thing fails or blows on re-entry. Suddenly I can't even imagine the world wide consequences of a 9 megaton yield bomb going off a couple hundred miles up. Not only are we talking massive radiation fallout and contamination but the EMP would just shut down a major part of the grid. I'm not too knowledgeable about the spread but in that case i'm sure even china would be clenching their @sses a fair bit.

.....oh yea. Kiss a big @ss hole in the protective ozone layer goodbye.

A large yield weapon detonated 400 km above Kansas would have an EMP that extended across the entire continental US, but the ground intensity pattern of that EMP would be peaked towards the South of ground zero, it would not be symmetrical.
So basically most of the US would be wiped off the power grid....

Just saying, wouldn't it be more cost effective if any one country mass produce "air fuel bombs"? I know they're not as powerful as a nuclear bomb (NOTE: although I just read that it is equivalent to a small tactical nuke), but you would think it would be easier and more cost effective to develop this weapon AND MASS PRODUCE them as well???!!! :notsure: Plus, when the winning country wins, there is no "fallout" to even worry about in the first place!!! Just saying...

Plus, just to add-in the fact that instead of just 1x missile/bomb to worry about, now you have 10, 20, or more to worry about. Another way to look at it, you're getting a rock thrown at you. The chances of you successfully evading that rock is fairly HIGH!!! Now look at it from another view point, you're getting a rock thrown at you, but now, instead of just one, you have 30x rocks coming your direction!!! The chances of you successfully evading that many is NOT very HIGH!!! I don't know if any of that makes any sense, but it sure does to me. I wouldn't worry tooooo much about a one-on-one fight, but F'N 10x plus dudes trying to beat me to a pulp is definitely something to worry about and PROBABLY NOT going to win!!!

"Mutual assured destruction or mutually assured destruction (MAD) is a doctrine of military strategy and national security policy in which a full-scale use of nuclear weapons by two or more opposing sides would cause the complete annihilation of both the attacker and the defender".

Nuclear powered subs that can stay underwater for almost 6 months....with a boat load of nukes.

Okay, but isn't it F'N LAME to annihilate your enemy and RUIN the land at the same time???!!! Kindof a shi**y example, but look at Chernobyl and the surrounding area, that place is STILL uninhabitable!!!

To dominate is to also take over the land and/or resources... because then, why even bother???!!!

....and that will be the evolution of war. Where minimal destruction will be ideal. Imagine " AI worm bot bombs " that would overtake and sabotage an entire grid. Our electronics are so sensative an emp would put us into the stone age. Hell, Kim can be pulling off a distraction with a nuclear situation where his goal is an emp. He's young and he was educated with $$$$. Better stock up on maps kiddos. When there is zero nav how are you going to navigate out of the mess ?

I see this as a middle school argument between two of the most fragile egos on earth..... and those kids never showed up after school for the fight.

Both don't show and both claim victory cause the other didn't show. Then it's all forgotten

YEAAAAH, THAT TOO!!!:fistbump: And THOSE were "natural disasters"... well, not Chernobyl, but still... it wasn't a warring dominating thing going on!!! But yeah, very good point!!!

Finally, I'm not arguing against you bro as I hope you realize that... I'm just simply saying that you would HOPE that a "leader" of a country would think about the natural resources that that very same land you're dominating has to offer!!! I mean, am I right??? :notsure:

I hope thats the case , in the sake of our kids. But i also think someone is pulling Kim's strings. Funny how Nk and China are both communist but 95% of people woulsnt even realize that.
