The FSM refers to it as the Intake Manifold Stay. I had it off when replacing the spark plugs, but forgot which of the two holes it bolts on to located at the head. I ended up attaching it to the hole towards the front of the engine. Not sure it makes any difference but could someone please look at your 5VZFE and let me know!

According to your picture, it's in the correct position. It should be straight vertical.

Its where it's mounted on both of my engines. It's the only place it can go and be a vertical member that holds the lower plenum and the upper plenum and keeps them from making a large moment on the fasteners that secure them to the middle of the engine.

Thank you all! I looked all over the FSM and couldn't find anything on it. The manifold stay is shown, but the lower attachment point is not. Thanks again for the help.

I just decided to leave that on when doing mine, although I did have to use a 10 inch extension.

Funny none of my 3.4 engines have that bracket which is used in dropping the engine in on the line.

One engine it has been over100,000 miles or so

Yeah I lifted the engine from four points including the open hole next to the lower bolt in that bracket. Felt better about that than lifting from the bracket and having a more finniky connection. Having a load leveler with four mounting points helped me to get the engine off of the trans the one and only time I've hoisted one out. It still took me some messing around.

The bracket does a nice job of supporting the intake too. Not that you'd need it until someone heavy decides to sit on the throttle body.
