Non leaking differential.

I had the same stains. Like residual assembly oil that crept off the threads when it started to warm up. Looked like every other "zomg leaking diff". I hit it with brake clean, it's never come back. Also, when I get headaches, I don't run to the doc and demand they treat me for cancer.

 

Not leaking. 35k miles

 

28k miles, no leaks, and I'm on the recall list. I did torque the carrier nuts to 18 ft lb. 2016 SR5 SBDC 2WD. Did it myself because I don't trust dealer and I've been a mechanic most of my life.

 

When you retorqued, did you loosen the nuts, moly lube, and torque? If not, please advise your method.

 

Oh of course I did ! And you can bet the Dealer does too !

 

Just curious if you loosened and used moly. Some people vary the procedure a little.

 

Just past 20k and nothing that I can see underneath.

 

Didn't have a howl before nor after.

fap.....be back in 2, maybe 3 minutes.

 

Only 2700 miles and they told me it was leaking when it was inspected. The truck had to be parked in the service yard for about 2 months waiting on the dang part(s).
