Been doing the same now for about 10 years. Especially if you are ok with really short hair, its worth learning on. Worst case you cut it short and try again next time.

I dont use a mirror, but I keep the hair on the side of my head pretty short...in the upper 1 region. I do fade it though with three sections of height on the side of my head, just use my fingers as a guide as I go around. No one seems to notice so I assume it works.

I used to do a different length for the top/sides. Now I'm just lazy and do it all at one length. I use a 4 guard during the winter and a 1 guard the rest of the year.

Not me man, I used a long 6 for the front, fade to a low 5 in back. Get the sides to a 3 on the very edges and then at the apex between the side and the top I get to a 2. After that I fade the whole side of my head with a 1 from high to low. Im sure it sounds confusing, but this takes me like 10 min to do.

That's definitely a benefit. I spend a lot of time outside for work all year. I like the longer hair in the winter for a little extra insulation and shorter in the summer is a little cooler.

Check out your city/county dump. They've usually got a scale.

Me too...maybe not 20 years but since I was 18, so 15 years. It involves some shaving cream and the same razor you shave your face with. Just keep on shaving, not everyone can pull of the bald look though.

the straight razor? I barely trust the barber with that, let alone myself to cut my hair

No not a straight razor, I use the mach turbo does a good job. When I was in Iraq I had a guy that was trying to get his barber license to open his own barber shop and he was cutting everyones hair. He wanted practice with his straight razor so I figured saves on my shaving cream and razor blades and a free hair cut why not. It does a pretty good job but don't know if I would trust just anyone to do it with a straight razor.

I know from 05 to 08, only the sport had a real LSD. I think 09+, they all came with the simulated LSD.
