LAVA TUBES, Flagstaff (8/13)

I know some of you said you would like to attend, could I get a roll call for tomorrow morning? Not my event, but I wanted to know who from AZTW will be going.

I'm not going to make it, going mountain biking in the morning then getting dragged to a party in Gilbert that afternoon

 

Im not going either. I don't feel good today, and if I feel better tomorrow we are going scouting for Oregano, which we were doing today, but now aren't because I don't feel good.

 

Oldest has broncitis or some bullshit. Can't really force her on an hour long hike and into a cold cave. Might deduct some good parenting points for that...

And now not feeling good is a full blown cold. WTF!!

 

Note to those going on the Flagstaff, Arizona Lava Tubes (cave) hike....I just did this hike 2 weekends ago. BRING a headlamp flashlight if you have one. If not, get one. The first bit of the cave is BIG, wet boulders that you have to climb down using feet AND hands. I did this with a flashlight clenched in my teeth. This hike is no joke. Be prepared so you can enjoy it! Its super cool and you will be amazed, its totally interesting , but bring a headlamp. Also I would advise: NO dogs down in the cave, this is not an easy "hike". Don't want to discourage anyone from this adventure, please go experience it, just be prepared, as we who live in Arizona know. Very cold in cave, 40 or so degrees.
