Interesting. I probably ought to get a set, but $150 isn't cheap.

Maybe @ramonortiz55 will do a group buy.

added some to my truck a couple weeks ago...best idea ever especially with fiberglass bedsides.
the back end shook alot even on the fwy and now its pretty damn stiff and sturdy even offroading

Just slapped a set in my bed. The Snugtop and RTT were doing a number. Everything is much tighter now. The tailgate now shuts with a firm "thud". Definitely worth it. I have a lot more peace of mind with all of the weight hanging off the back of the Tacoma.

I have ordered them but have not received mine yet, I see you said the factory top bolt was an M6 metric bolt which you substituted, by any chance you remember how long it was? I would like to buy 2 replacement bolts before installing my brackets?

    Thanks

I recently purchased the brackets but have not arrived yet, I would like to replace my top bolts with Grade 8 ones before installing the brackets. Does anyone know the size & length of the top bolt?

I hope someone who knows for sure chimes in here bro - but to the best of my knowledge, if it's a M6 it's 1" if it's a M8 its 1.25" I'd pull one and measure for you but I'm out of town without my truck.

I had to replace mine because they snap VERY easily when you're reinstalling them.

That is what I've learned from reading on here so that is why I am opting to just replace mine when I install them

Go to the hardware store and remove one of the upper bolts. Verify the size and thread count - pick up a couple of Grade 8 variants and you'll be good to go.

Just in case anyone wants to replace the top bolts, I pulled the top screws to verify the size. There are 2 screws located at the top, both bolts are the same, and are M6 course thread (1.0 thread pitch) x 20mm long. I opted to get a bit longer bolt since it is now going through the stiffener bracket?
