I was thinking of getting a sandwich plate as well, but wasn't sure on clearance. Though the plate would hit that back raised lip where the oil drain hole is. Thanks for forging the way lol. What brand plate is that?

It's a 3/4-16 Glowshift adapter plate. It's is well made and had a nice flat smooth shiny finish on it and a wide double gasket on one side. You can position and clock the plate so it doesn't touch that oil drip thingy. I tested the gauges today and they both work good using that plate. Two of the sensor holes are deep and two are shallow. I used the deep holes for the longer temp sensor and the short hole for the shorter pressure sending unit.
I tried to tighten the plate on there just enough so it doesn't move when you try to unscrew the oil filter. It still might spin off when it's time for an oil change and the filter gets sticky to it though.
I picked up the "good" elite Glowshift gauges, but we'll see how long they last. If they end up malfunctioning, I'll replace them with name brand stuff. I think for just pressure and temp they'll be okay.

Yeah, I saw that they had a bunch of bad reviews. I hope by using their better line, they'll last longer.

the elite series? i had the regular if i remember correctly. it could have been electrical gremlins but i doubt it was with my issues. they just either worked or didnt randomly and i never changed anything after the install.

They are ricey, but only if you choose the disco color changing mode :anonymous:. Also, I couldn't see myself spending hundreds of dollars for each gauge, just for oil temp and pressure.

Still, not as ricey as those color changing halos on some projector headlights. I see jeeps driving around with them on the freeway, morphing colors and stuff.

Yeah, the Elite series. Those were the only ones that had a low and high warning setting.

I received the Lotek gauge pillar. If you heard rumors of this gauge pillar not fitting right, I would like to put these rumors to rest.....................It's true, it fits like crap. I had to dremel out the holes for the grab handle, grind down a couple tabs on the grab handle, and it still fitted like crap. The mold just didn't line up well with the base of the handle. I had to sort of push on it and hold the handle while tightening the two handle screws, so it would look okay.
After all of that, it came out alright.....

Well, we had a fun day yesterday. A couple 4runners wanted to check out this trail with us, both stock gearing with rear lockers and open fronts. This guys rear diff decided that it didn't want to play anymore. At least he had a winch and could pull himself up the trail to the main road. His clutch didn't like it either and was burning most of the time. Made for an interesting adventure.
