Thanks for the info! I guess I should have qualified my statement by saying "without any major engine work." Would you see a performance gain by upgrading your exhaust + CAI without first doing the headers, or are the headers? I'm just curious, I don't think I'll be doing any of this to mine.

The stock exhaust is perfect for the motor. For all around performance.

Opening it up on our motors you'll loose low end torque but gain some upper end power.

With fai opening the exhaust helps a lot.

Without engine work it's not going to make that big of a difference. Headers and intake then exhaust, but if you're going to go that route then you might as well turbo or supercharge

Cool, thanks man. I do a fair bit of driving at 10-12k feet elevation and my biggest complaint is lack of power going uphill at altitude. I drove a 4cyl subaru forester before this and I thought the extra 2 cyl would help a ton. It's better, but not that much.

Get shorter gears if you go up in tire size. That'll be the best bang for your buck in the "power" dept.

Yeah I might have been a little touchy and if so I apologize to @Thurman Merman.

I debated even posting about it because a CAI usually comes with some sort of chastising about how one has paid for snake oil. I'm proud of what I did today so I shared anyway.

If there is an exact choke point I don't where it exists.

Haha I didn't know you were the one that did that CAI install. It's super clean. I don't care about if people are making horsepower if they're happy with their mods.

The numbers don't lie. Porting cylinder heads will make more difference than any other flow mod in power short of forced induction and that's how you can see it as the primary choke point. I liked your install on the CAI - I'd mess with mine if I lived in a state that didn't frown upon that sort of thing lol.

I appreciate it man, I wanted a unique mod that I didn't have to hock a kidney for.

On the 3.4 there's a curve on the outside of the washer that goes between the crank sprocket and the crank pulley. I think that it should curve away from the timing belt so it doesn't rub on it. Is this so?

I know this says it's off of a 98 4Runner. But it looks the same as the one on my 04 Tacoma. 01-04 Tacomas are the same. And so are 98 - 02 4runners. Or did you see this already? I'm not a 100% sure but I think this is what you're looking for.

I haven't seen this thanks for passing it along. It looks the same like you said. I will take a look to see if the mounting tabs all look the same.
