I haven't had the courage to crawl under my truck and look to see if it is leaking again! After 79 days without it, I will just drive it and hope for the best! P.S. I haven't got the sensor replaced yet either, hopefully, there will be no more problems with this truck, three in less then 8,000 miles.

No, No, you have nothing to worry about! That's perfectly normal on an OR. It's only an issue if your VIN is on the recall list.

Eventually the OR's will be on the recall list, Toyota can't handle anymore trucks sitting on the dealer lots for months as they can't even handle the recall with the trucks that are on the list. Once most of the Recall VIN trucks are through the system, you will then see the recall extended. As we all predicted in the beginning, there are way more trucks that need new parts gaskets and or new carriers than Toyota anticipated

I wonder is checking the torque of the rear end is part of the PDL. As we know most dealers don't really do a real PDL because they only get paid for a small amount.

    Stock for now.
At what point does it become unacceptable for how long they've had the truck? I'm only on my first week of being without it so I'm in for the long haul i'm sure. But is there any point when Toyota will make truck payments? Or do they feel like because they're paying for a rental car that's good enough?

Actually, it was the first issue last year, my instrument cluster had to be replaced. That was a week without my Taco! Don't want to think of what next?

Mechanics Union has been on strike in Chicagoland for 2 weeks now. That's not helping speed things up. Glad I got my 15k service in two weeks before all that.

Called the dealership for a status update. Finally got half the parts in for all the trucks...but not enough to actually fix anything.

    REALLY?!?!?!?

Tacoma Owners Bristle as Toyota Takes Their Trucks

Too many loyal fans are still in denial. Cheapest raw metals and parts available sourced from third world countries. Low skilled $2.49 an hour third world labor used for most of the assembly.

This is not your Father's Toyota folks.

You can't cut corners this much and not have the quality suffer.

    Bill Diezel July 25, 2017

" Toyota is not the realiable car/truck brand as they used to be. The Tacoma has been a disaster.
The 2nd Gen Frame rot which Toyota finally settled to replace all truck frames. It will cost them about 3.6 billion.

The 3rd gen has been plagued by vibration, poor shifting transmissions, CPS sensor recall, vibration, rear end leaks.

Toyota could easily have new gaskets and bolts ready for customers, they just don’t want to spend the upfront money to do so because that would effect quarterly earnings.

Many are purposely not taking trucks in for the rear end recall because of Toyota confiscating trucks for up to 3 months plus.

A class action needs to be filed and a motion to stop production until recall trucks have parts available. "

    Hey all,

Long time reader first time poster here. Trucks been at the dealer since 6/30 for the rear diff recall with no end in sight. They were able to replace the crank shaft sensor while its sitting there though. Just thought I'd share the below link for those interested. Looks like the Tacoma will get a refresh in 2020 and a redesigned 4R in 2021.
