My oldest son was in marching band. They put quite the time constraints on those kids. It always amazed me they can get away with those requirements.

 

Can confirm. Was in marching band for 4 years.

Walking the streets playing skin flute DOES NOT count as marching band.

 

Last year he played marimba, this year he is playing snare, and has to march. It was a rude awakening in 100+ degree weather.

 

I never did marching band, just concert band. Played the trumpet, avoided the heat

 

Yick. I always felt worse for the drummers.

 

At least it's not the quads.

 

At my son's school, they didn't allow that. If you wanted to be in band, marching was a requirement.

 

First year is a requirement at my son's school.

 

This was years back when I was in junior high, did band 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Marching band was a separate option. I'm 30 now.

I don't doubt that it's required nowadays at the middle school I attended. But it wasn't back then at least

He went to an all boys school.

 

I went to an all boy school, we went coed in 10th grade. 90 boys in my graduating class, 17 girls.

At my school, marching was required.

 

I'm glad I went to a 'normal' public school...

 

Marching during the fall. Concert in the spring.

Thems was the rule.

 

Marching during spring all the way through football season....Add in concert appearances during the fall/winter.


Big time competitive school for marching and concert.

 

We were big on marching because high school football in Texas.
