@Madjik_Man Running a Viair 400H (Hardmount) Same thing as 400P but without the handle and the deck plate. I run it with an "air it up system" hose that works on filling all 4 tires at one time. Got it from Edge Automotive. It's nice airing up all 4 at once and leaves you time to BS as it does it's work. Not to mention all 4 tires inflate to the exact same pressure. I also have a CO2 tank for those crappy moments when I need to get done quickly. Also CO2 is good for re-seating beads or running air tools.

Just a couple of pics so far. I really am absurdly lazy when it comes to these things.

Coming down from Tin Cup Pass summit, on the east side:




Camping atop FR 295 just below the trailhead for Hancock Lake. That's Mt Pomeroy in the background



Heading up 277 to Baldwin Lake. Fun trail. Mostly mellow, very bumpy, narrow and steep. Soft shoulders in the beginning climb which also coincide with a steep shelf. Got to the junction of where you can continue on to Baldwin Lake or head east on the Mt Antero trail. But it was torrential rain and hail. Not to mention around 4pm and I was looking for a spot to camp. So we headed back down and ended up driving to Cottonwood Pass and camping there on a less traveled FR.



This is a pic from the hike up to the east portal of the Alpine Tunnel. If you look closely you can see (I believe to be) the Mt Antero trail.

 

Anyone here slide off a trail around Rollinsville? The rescue recovery is going up there for a 2012 Tacoma. I was thinking of offering up but I'm not cut for my tires yet. If it someone here I'll respond though.

It was 4 1/2 to 3 thank you very much. Thats not too shabby in my opinion.

Oh yah well my co2 can re inflate faster then you can deflate

does anyone know of or use a good engine dyno place? it would be for a 6.0 or 6.2
have a new taco project in the works

6.16 CFM, 100% duty cycle, this is good, Not sure of max psi or amp draw needs.\
This is prolly the best bang for your buck for a lifetime purchase and will be going in the Tundra, since I'll be going air lockers and it can run an impact wrench.

The Viair 400P, can be found cheaper, at the same price as the Smittybilt if you look.
2.30 CFM rating at 0-psi, this drastically decreases with altitude and pressure increase, as do all of them, see note at the bottom of this post.*

*note at the bottom,
CFM ratings for all of those are at Sea Level. They drop as you go up in altitude.

That being said, purely in my opinion, the Smittybilt is a better buy than the Viair.
If you have the room, it can be mounted under the hood.
Drawbacks to the Smittybilt, and as far as I know maybe the same for the rest, is the use of non compatible air fittings for the product. If you lose the inflator, your screwed. The pressure connectors are not compatible with standard high pressure lines. I solved that by welding my own connection to the end and now can use standard fittings and air chucks.

the higher the CFM and duty cycle rating, the better.

That thing is huge. A tank can be added to any compressor if a burst of bead seating air is needed.
Us 1st genners, having the superior 4x4, don't have a need for a lot of useless recovery and glamping storage. We are a minimalist group.

 

Yup, if you have the space though... its cheap.

With the nice under hood mounts for the ARB, I'd probably go that route next, with a tank for the hell of it.

But next rig will probably be full size so I'll have plenty of space.

20 minute duty cycle w/20 minutes off (someone please explain why they dont list this as 50% duty cycle)

Doesn't that work in my favor if you could only inflate 4 1/2 tires in the time it took me to pop my hood, unpack the compressor, and inflate 3 of my own tires..?
