    I've change the oil without lifting it 3 times already. I have the Sport with the plastic liner under the front "bumper". Easy in and out. Haven't had an issue.

    Digging a ditch sounds like a good idea.

    Use a bunch of 4x4 wood for cribbing , that alone will support over 6k lbs per wheel

    I would not use ramps in the yard or on gravel. This does not seem safe. Can you not just scuttle under the truck and get it done?

    In LA, I see dudes working on their trucks parallel parked on curbs like this all the time to do oil changes. I guess it's free.... although, super ghetto!

    That's exactly how I changed the oil on our miata. Changed it that way on the old miata until 2012. Ah, the good old days.


    Now, I just use a vac thing on our vehicles. Takes most of the oil out. Tried it on the tacoma on the last oil change. A little over 0.75 ounces of oil came out of the drain after the vacuum when I measured it so I figure that's chump change compared to how much new oil is going in. I Plan on doing it that way from now on, on the tacoma as well. Then, I just get under to take the filter off. others are top filters so I don't even have to get under. Oil's still hot coming out of the vacuum, so I assume most of the crud is still suspended in the oil.

    The pump was $50 and I hesitated buying it. But damn, it's been an easy way to change oil for the last 5 years.

    Yes! I have seen this technique catching on more recently. Always in the sketchy neighborhoods. The first time I saw it I thought the people had blown a tire and pulled over to offer help. "Nah, were good homie just an oil change."

    I just squeeze under the truck for lube changes. I do have a floor jack and stands in the garage if needed.
