Also I liked that gendry has come to favor a war hammer as his weapon of choice. A little nod to his father.

What happens when Jora realizes Jon is carrying Longclaw? I can see him being pissed at first but then I can see him being like..yeh ok, I dont deserve it anyway.

 

I thought the Lord Commander had that sword made for Jon, which is why it has a direwolf's head on the handle?

Longclaw is a Valyrian steel sword that was the ancestral weapon of House Mormont for five centuries. When Lord Jeor Mormont retired from his lordship to take the black and command the Night's Watch, he passed it to his son and heir, Ser Jorah Mormont. When Jorah went into exile after trying to sell some poachers into slavery, he left the sword and Ser Jeor Mormont's sister returned it to him on the Wall.

Years later, Jeor gave Longclaw to Jon Snow as a reward for saving his life from a wight. Before giving it to Jon he had the pommel remade, replacing the bear with a direwolf, the sigil of House Stark.

Now that Jon Snow has become the new King in the North, it has been theorized that it will be the new Valyrian steel heirloom of House Stark, to replace Ice (which was melted down at the order of Tywin Lannister so that the Lannisters could replace their family's lost Valyrian steel sword).

 

Hoping we get to see The Hound and The Mountain go at it...

 

Beric can die and come back at least three more times. He's pushing a half dozen times in the books.

 

But what if he dies and becomes a wight?

 

I think the Lord of Light is deeply embedded in him, especially since that's who makes the sword flame up. The hound's sourness is hilarious. Definitely the least happy person to find out he's still alive.

I think they both might make it, ironically. At least until the final battle.

 

How many of us in this thread have finished all 5 books? How many are reading the books but have not finished? Its really hard to keep both seperated during discussions. I dont want to throw any Book spoilers out there about certain topics.

 

I google a lot of the book stuff or wiki. Started to read the first and got bored in the acknowledgments

 

You can always do the spoiler thing, that way we can ruin things for ourselves if we want.

I'm in the process of reading the books, may get the audio books tho

 

I enjoy listening to the Audio books. The Amazon Audibles version is good, there are some thing about the narrator (Roy Dotrice) I'd change but his accent works well with the reading. I use to read the series at least every couple of years and especially right before another book was published. But now I'm so hooked on Audiobooks I hardly "read" anything.

 

I'm reading them but I agree with @ThunderCookies, google and wiki is the way to go.
