What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

37x14.50x15 Toyo mt. Going on my trail ready beadlocks I already have on the truck. Waiting on new beadlock bolts from trail ready that will be here Thursday, hope to finish mounting them by Sunday.

 

Gonna be weird and quote my own post, but I got the engine sitting in the grey truck and put the new clutch and flywheel on. Also moved over some wheels and tires. Got the transmission prepped for new x-member too. A very productive day and I'm beat.

Why does Toyota want so GD much for black exterior door handles!? $95 for ONE door handle!

 

I can't stand the replacement door handle I bought on Amazon. It feels like it's going to break every time I open my door and the linkage feels weird. For how much of a pain it is to install, I would definitely go with a genuine Toyota part. Amazon has black oem for 63 bucks right now.

 

Might want to take a look at the FSM to see what is says for your truck. It may be different from mine because I am a v6 and 4x4.

I know for my trans, A340F, the hot line (with the temp sensor) to the radiator is on the passenger side of the trans and the return line from the fluid cooler is on the driver's side.

 

So you're saying the lines are on the opposite sides of the transmission? Are you sure about that? All A340E and A340F transmission diagrams I have see show them both on the passenger side.

 

One of them crosses over but yes technically they run up to the front on the passenger side.

 

Pretty sure that you'll need to buy a different MAF for that airbox. I just found out the hard way that Toyota used a different style in the 98's.

 

Well, now I'm not so certain.

I recall seeing an image of this when I was adding an additional trans fluid cooler but I can't find that image now. I wanted to make certain the line coming up the passenger side to the radiator was the hot fluid and the line running down the driver side was the return line. I suppose it is possible that return line crosses back over to the passenger side before going into the trans.

I happen to have all the skids off atm. I try to take a closer look at it tomorrow.

Who has changed their body mounts? What did you use?

I'm not looking for a body lift, just stock replacement. I also don't need the steering rack bushings or anything else. Just the body bushings.

 

I believe you will find that the driver side line crosses back over to the passenger side and connected to a hardline.

My question is mostly: which one is output and which one is return. I believe the driver side of the radiator to be the return line, but I'm just looking for confirmation.

Gave the interior a nice upgrade with this Sony XAV AX100. So I had to take her out to give it a listen and explore some back roads after 6" of rain flooded out the area. Really uncommon to see so much rain in my area of east Tx during August. Made for a fun afternoon.

 

Spent a hot, sweaty night undressing my engine... 17 hours later everything's off except gas, trans, and exhaust, and got the motor mounts loose.
