I've aired tires down to as low as 6 lbs when in the sand at Pismo Beach. It makes all the difference in the world.

What type of tires do you have? i have heard, don't know if it is true or not, that you need more air in E rated tires.

A system that was installed on the Land Cruisers in 2008 then on the 4Runners in 2010 and now on the Tacoma's in 2016 is a gimmick? After 8 years of use on several trusted platforms one would think if it were a gimmick that it wouldn't have been added to the Tacoma.

Also, having used it several times...I assure you, it's no gimmick and works as designed.

Funny, I never read anything in the owners manual about using it too long and causing damage. Let me double check.

Seems to me there automatic failsafes in place to prevent something from getting "mucked" up.

    Carry on elsewhere please.

And yeah, crawl control sounds loud, and it usually doesn't do much if you're actually stuck. (Notice that almost all the crawl control promo videos have a truck that's already on an incline, and taking advantage of that while using cc.) Works pretty well for driving consistently slow.

I'd use it if I had it, but definitely not a must have.

Here is my question. Could crawl control get out off a situation that a highly experienced off road driver couldn't?

These were E rated but also on F-250 pulling a toyhauler. E's on a Tacoma....I haven't done that yet. But the Taco is much lighter and may not need to be aired down as much.

I should run it on my way to work (15miles) and see what happens.

Besides all of the pissed off DC metro area drivers throwing their morning coffee at me.

I'll have to search for the thread later but I vaguely recall some folks overheating their brakes or having some mechanical issues that perhaps stemmed from over use of the system.

If you ever do stupid/fun/wifeyellingatyou things in your truck, you'll learn that most of the sounds that crawl control makes are a combination of the traction control noises and ABS noises, which also follows logic because crawl control uses those two systems heavily.

I run E rated KM2s and while I haven't been to the beach on them, for trail riding and some rock stuff, I've dropped it down to about 15-16 and theyve grabbed stuff great. I usually run them about 40 psi for day to day.
