Cleaning OEM Bed Cover

Spilled a milkshake on my OEM bed cover right before a 5 hour drive last week. It rained most of the trip so I thought it would rinse off. This weekend I noticed there was still a faint spot where the spill had been so I washed it with a soapy sponge and rinsed well. Today I noticed there is still a slight discoloration where the spill had been. Does anyone have a good cleaning agent for the bed cover?

It is raining now so I can't get a good pic.

Regular automotive soap, followed by 303 cleaner then 303 protector might do it.

Assuming the material isn't stained of course.

 

You should try a small soft bristled brush like a toothbrush on the spot with some mild soap, then follow with some 303

 

I have not used 303. I will give it a shot. I'm hoping it is not stained.

 

I doubt it's stained from what I remember my oem cover was somewhat textured and I think the milkshake is still there. I think you need to apply some elbow grease with a brush

 

Will the 303 protector bleed? I tried Chemical Guys VRP on the cover in the past and after the first rain it ran down the sides of the bed.

 

It shouldn't if you buff it per the instructions.

 

It will still bleed since it's water based. Mine did, so I stopped using it on spots where fog and dew sits on it. You'll see the remnants of a dew foot print all over the tonneau when it dries and whatever gets dissolved runs down the body side and the stuff on the black fender flares get runny. LOL
The one Chemical guys product that has worked for me is the natural shine cream that's good for interior and exterior (completely dry). I still use and love the 303, but use it mostly on the rubber/ vinyl exterior parts, underside of the chassis, and engine bay to make grit and grime easier to hose hose off after a dirty or slightly muddy trip. Less stuff sticks to it with the 303 coating.

 

Finally got a pic. Looked for the 303 at Lowes at lunch but no luck. Will try a couple other places on my way home from work. Thanks again for the help.

 

303 is a protectant, not a cleaner. You need to try a more aggressive cleaner with a lot of agitation. Optimum Power Clean is my go-to AIO cleaner that gets almost anything out.

I would just give it some time. It isn't going to get worse. I bet it is gone after a few washes and a month.

 

I had some bird crap stain in my extang cover. Drove me crazy because the stain would not come off. I just let it be and now it's gone. I would say wash it as best as you can and let it be. Fwiw, I like the Armor all trim restorer on my cover. It doesn't run over the side of the cover with dew or rain.

 

Hot water. Small hand scrub brush. Bucket. Simple green. Get the area wet with SUPER HOT WATER, the hotter the better to remove the dairy from the milk, spray with simple green, let soak for 5 minutes. Spray again with simple green, Scrub the hell out of it and rinse with more Super super hot water. It'll be a little discolored when your done because it'll be the cleanest spot but it'll go back to normal. I've done this with mine after I spilled a GALLON of macaroni salad all over the bed ha ha.
