Just got off the phone with BD. It's only compatible with supercharged Toyota's, i.e. Tundra or Tacoma.

It's lean with TRD flash without the TRD injectors, not rich. It's rich the SC installed without the TRD flash until it's start to boost.

    1)Stock injectors + TRD flash = lean

    2a)Supercharger + bigger injectors + stock flash + no boost = rich

    2b)Supercharger + bigger injectors + stock flash + boost = lean

Install the supercharger > drive to dealer for flash > Use a light foot > Stay out of boost > leave dealer > pedal to the metal.

Anybody actually replace their fuel filter before the s/c install?

I am, but that's also because I'm upgrading the pump and using an external (fuel tank) filter (URD Fuel pump upgrade)

Do you mean the fuel pump? Either way I don't think it would hurt anything. I know 1st gen guys have done it anyhow.

The Magnusen directions recommend a fuel filter change on the second gens. I've read that you might as well do the fuel pump at the same time anyways. I was just wondering if it's really necessary.

Thats cute.... on a 2nd gen?

Ur gunna have to drop the tank.
Then u should get the upgraded pump setup from urdusa.com with your choice of fuel pump, and then u also will have a user friendly fuel filter.

So, just to clarify and add to what @inwood customs said here, the only 'fuel filter' that comes stock is a little sock at the bottom of the fuel pump which is inside the tank. The URD fuel pump replacement has that sock as well, but also adds an external filter to make filter changes much easier down the road. Highly recommended for those supercharging their trucks. But not needed.

On that note I'll just say this, if you're just supercharging for a little bit of a bump and towing, no need for the fuel pump, you'll be fine. If you plan on changing all your performance stuff (full exhaust and intake) plus adding boost and maybe some other power adders, it's highly recommended and almost needed at that point. It's your truck, do what you want with it. But the fuel pump upgrade is a nice insurance to have to prevent a lean out.

It is a little intimidating if you've never messed with your engine or fuel stuff before though. Mine sat on the shelf for a couple months before I finally said F it, I can tow it to a mechanic if I fuck it up. Word of advice, bring a bucket. The instructions straight up say "fuel will come out" and you're like ok a little fuel is gonna leak out....nope, that entire line from the engine to the tank is gonna want to drain on your face.

Also, make sure you crank the shit out of the pipe clamps included to the fuel filter, or you'll have a fun little fuel spray under the truck the first time you start it up.

I'm def unsure of how its gonna go haha! But I also know people a lot less. . ."mechanically inclined" have done it.

Ill keep the advice about the bucket in mind and use it. For the pipe clamps, are those like zip ties or the round, screw to make tight, kinda clamps? Either way, I will make sure I tighten em up to avoid this, thanks!

The round screw to make it tight, kinda clamps. I basically got them as tight as I thought they needed, and then gave it one more little twitch, and then started the truck up and had a small spray under the truck lol. Those things have to be super tight. and before anyone says anything, I followed the destructions to the letter because I'd never done this kind of thing before and didn't want to F it up.

Got a snout cutter. Gonna go with a 2.7 pulley this winter. With fpr mod. 2.85 has been fun. But always need more boost.

    This is the OEM pump:

This is the (one and only?) OEM fuel filter:
    IMG_3452.jpg

    Then what is this?
    IMG_3453.jpg

I think the flat one is a pre-filter and that plastic barrel-shaped thing is a main filter.

Pretty sure torspd said the same thing.
Sock is a prefilter type deal and the housing had some integrated filter inside.

Huh, I stand corrected then! Didn't really look at all that. Well, anyone with 50k+ miles might want to think about changing out their fuel pumps, or at least the sock and inner filter, we know gas is pretty shitty sometimes, so all that grit builds up.

What else have you done to your truck?
I'm planning on the beginning of next year to drop a blower on.
I've already got LT's with new Y-pipe and opened exhaust, and URD CAI. Also already replaced the FP with URD's 255lph kit.

Was planning on getting UCON, as well as a 2.85 pulley. Is the 2.7 that much of a difference?
I do a lot of towing. I use this truck for work, as well as my DD. If the 2.7 is a big kick in the pants, I may just opt to get that.

I almost did the 2.7 too. When Gadget told me I'd have to buy even bigger injectors, I decided to just do the 2.85.

That rabbit hole gets deep quick...

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Bigger injectors and/ or the 7th injector kit. Which are pretty similar in cost, I think. But the 7th injector kit should be an overall better choice. In other words, I think you can skip the bigger injectors and just do the 7th inj kit. Nut the 2.7 also requires a $95 snout cutter tool. Decisions, decisions...
