They will probably not break in half like the 1st and 2nd gens after just a couple of winters. JD Powers didn't seem to forecast that problem

They're more concerned with Initial Quality, whatever that is.

GM recalling about 700,000 Chevy and GMC trucks
by Jackie Wattles @jackiewattles August 5, 2017: 12:32 PM ET
    [IMG]
General Motors has recalled hundreds of thousands of Chevy and GMC pickups because of a potential steering issue.

The vehicles may have a software problem that can cause them to spontaneously lose their electric power steering assistance for about one second, according to the The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"If [the power steering] assist is lost and suddenly returned, the driver could lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash," NHTSA said in a public document.

The cars are particularly vulnerable to the issue when a driver performs low-speed turns, according to NHTSA.

More than 690,000 vehicles -- model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierra trucks -- are potentially affected by the issue.

    Cheers!

I think it has been a major let down. All you hear is how reliable the toyotas are but these ones are being recalled and people waiting for weeks on end to get their trucks back. Then others have had the trucks break down because of faulty sensors. I see a ton of people ripping on the truck on facebook Toyota corporate site too. Seem to be lot of unhappy tacoma owners out there...

Consumer reports was right from my experience the truck has been a disappoinmtent.

At least GM and chevy are issuing recalls, handling them appropriately and getting the problems fixed. I think toyota problem is they just call everything NORMAL then dont want to fess up to fix it.

Complaints do not equate to reliability...

    manchild
An adult male who still posesses psychological traits of a child. Traits include, but are not necessarily limited to:
    - whining
    - pettyness
    - trying to pass the blame for their own underdeveloped judgement
    - not "stepping up to the plate" when it's their role to.
    - secretly still finds 3rd grade bathroom humor amusing.
    - not to mention an overall insecurity in who he is as a man, from which similar traits sprout.

I've had no major issues to complain about with mine, but I don't suffer from the placebo effects from ppl hearing voices in their heads.
I think its a great little truck
