3rd gen 5100's w/ AAL

Thx. Click on my profile and look under information. You will see what I've done. In addition I did Spidertrax wheel spacers all the way around to fill out the wheel well. 1.25 or 1.5" I forgot lol.

My wheels showed up last month now I'm waiting for a Labor Day sale on a set of falken tires. After that 5100's are next!

 

OME 887, Icon 3 AAL, 5100s all around. Rides great.

 

2nd gen Bilsteins set at zero, OME 888's and HS 3 leaf progressive w/factory overload left in. Sitting on 265/75/16's with ATX AX195's -12 offset wheels. Zero rubbing and I was able to reinstall the factory mudguards.
I left my before and after specs at work but I ended up very close to advertised lift for this combination. I plan in driving it for a day or two to let the suspension settle before aligning it. At this point it drives great and rides as good as stock from what I recall and I added almost 3". A huge thank you to marie@headstrong for all the help.

 

which Dakars leaf pack did you get? the heavy? or Medium/light?

 

5100s all four corners and 885s up front. Nothing to the rear just yet. Little nose high

 

how much lift did you get??? i'm trying to decide if i want the 885's or 887s!

 

Probably 1.75in. I'd go 887s if I were to redo it. My only option now for the rear I think is some 1/2 in blocks. Currently poor so I have to wait for my wheels. Might decide then to keep or go higher

Need some help folks.

Rear im going single aal, always carrying stuff work and ease of install with factory unbolts etc. With 5100 in rear.

Front. Currently have 1/2 toytec spacer. . Im thinking bilsteins at 3rd notch (1.5”?) and keep the spacer for 3/4” lift.

Front at 2.25 on stock coils. Stock uca. Doing the ecgs bushing while im in there
Rear 2” add a leaf. Almost factory rake then when im loaded it doesnt squat like it does now.

notch setting at "0" with ome 888's and bilstein 5100's all around. get UCA's if you dont want to have alignment issues. plus. anything 3'' and above you will need UCA's to get your alignment on point.. along with not compromising your axles down the road because they will tear with the lift being 3'' above. UCA's help straighten them back out.

edit: 888's should achieve 2.75 -3 inches of lift. but i would get them pre-assembled so all you have to do is replace your entire suspension setup without having to break down the stock bilsteins for the top hat..

But my point is i figure if i stay within 2” in the front. I should be able to get away from the ucas and alignment issues. Then in a few years when the truck is paid for i can go to a mid travel set up. But for now i just want 2 so i can fit 285s

 

I thougt you wanted to go for a 3’’ lift. But yeah thats cool. Go with 887’s or 885’s for 2-2.25 inches. With the billies set at 0. Its good for a stock ride feel. Even better actually.

 

I see a lot of people with sports say the 5100 ome setup improves the ride. I have an offroad and don't personally know the difference in ride between sport and offroad.

Can any offroad owners comment if this setup improves the ride or keeps it close to stock?

 

I think the 5100 with OME keeps it pretty close to the stock OR with the 4600 HDs. One of the reasons I waited so long to lift was to maintain the stock OR ride, I didnt want to change it but wanted the benefit of a little more clearance. To me they feel the same.

Now if you pair it with a firmer coil like an 886 you might feel a bit more stiffer ride.

 

That's great to know. I actually am more than fine with the stock ride. I'd rather save money and maintain that ride quality vs spending hundreds more to improve it.

I was looking at this kit. 5100 with 887 and a single aal. Is a single aal fine for offroading, or do people really recommend replacing the entire pack? Also, they include a diff drop kit, but with 887 do you need that plus new UCAs?
