If you wanna pay $200 to get your diff fluid changed, $50 to grease your driveline, $50 per air filter, and another $250 for your spark plugs.

The last time my truck was at the dealer was for my 20K service. For shits and grins I left my GoPro camera rolling while they did the service. The guys they have working in the oil and lube section are not your best and brightest. The real technicians are doing the more complicated work. These jokers spent most of the time dancing around my truck to some god awful music and taking turns sitting in my drivers seat and commenting on my window tint. One guy even spent about five minutes looking up window tint laws on his phone to confirm that my tint was not legal. I'm pretty sure they did not rotate my tires, but they did change my oil. I will be going back for my 25K tire rotation only because I would rather play leap frog with unicorns than rotate my tires. You can bet I will be marking my tires and leaving the GoPro rolling to see if anything was actually done. After this service I will be doing everything (within my knowledge) myself!

Sounds about right! I can't imagine they waste the skilled techs time on anything like a regular service. Been to multiple toyota dealers near me, and will avoid them for anything I can do myself.

My 30k scheduled maintenance will consist of: CPS recall, entune TSB, rear drums sticking/slipping when wet, rear diff weep, hood flutter, and excessive cabin wind noise. All other services will be done by me, ensuring they actually get done.

Call ahead for the CPS. I'm "on the list". They don't have parts.

One of the dealers near me said it would take 3-4 weeks to get the part and they'd call me. got tired of waiting, called another dealership today and they have the part in stock. Appointment tomorrow AM.

Yep, I can deal with changing my oil, but the problem usually is, disposing the used oil... Very few service/mechanical shops around my area are willing to accept foreign disposed oil from people. I did it a few times with my previous cars, and it was a pain in the axxx, driving around and asking them to accept my used oil. Finally I got a shop (20 miles away) that allow me to dump it in it's reservoir of used lubricants.
If I find a place near my home when I can dump the used oil, then I would like to change it for myself, however during the validity of vehicle warranty, I prefer to bring the Tacoma to the Dealer. So far they offer good/fast service.

As soon as warranty expires I'm planning to do the same. I like to control/know what is really going to the engine.

I've disposed of used oil at Wal-Mart and O'Reily's both... No problem from either, and I didn't even buy my oil/filter from them (I was using RP and ordering online for my Mustang). Do you have access to either of those near you?
