School me on rock sliders...

Is this heavy enough to create any noticeable sag in the stock ride height?

 

Not really. I never measured but it doesn't seem to matter.

 

Looking at those on their website, those don't look nearly as strong as the other bolt on options. You'll notice with ones from @Mobtown Offroad or @allpro there's a large plate between legs.

At stock height do rock sliders protect against door dings from other cars when parked? Dual purpose protection for pinch seam and doors?

 

They'll help against cars, SUV and truck not so much.

I can but at a premium. Unfortunately we only run one color because that is the only way to keep cost down. We are taking them a lot of work every week and we were on the same color on everything. If we mix and match colors they charge us a lot of money

First, can you use a hilift jack on sliders that are bolted on but haven't had the extra holes drilled (not including Mobtown). Second, I'm looking for who makes the lightest weight sliders that still provide protection?

Yes, you can use a hilift jack on all real rock sliders. If you have any questions about a specific brand consult the manufacturer. Some nerf bars or side steps get mistaken for rock sliders, and if you use a hilift jack on these you will damage your vehicle. All real rock sliders should be capable of supporting the weight of your vehicle, even if bolted to the frame using the holes available with no drilling of your frame. Some manufacturers suggest drilling extra holes if you intend to wheel hard and often. The vendors / manufacturers are the experts, so give them a call - most are happy to answer questions.

I don't know who makes the lightest rock sliders, but the lightest ones that I have found are made by CBI; they have an excellent reputation, but I have never owned them myself. I have attached a small spreadsheet with the info I compiled; all sliders in this comparison have the following attributes: (1) all are made from steel - the consensus is that you cannot use aluminum as a real rock slider; (2) the column titled "material" refers to how the steel is made: Drawn Over Mandrel (DOM) is stronger than Hot Rolled Electrically Welded (HREW); (3) all sliders in this list have the kickout (KO); (4) none of these sliders quoted have the top plate (sometimes called "filler plate") - typically the top plate adds 10 pounds to the total weight of both sliders, but this varies by brand; (5) weights listed are in pounds, and the weights listed are for both sliders combined; (6) prices are listed for unpainted sliders, the cost of powder coating, and then the total price. Blanks in the spreadsheet indicate I didn't find the info.

If you don't have the sliders attached to the bottom of the frame, I definitely wouldn't trust jacking from them. Even with my all pro ones with 4 holes drilled on the bottom, the sliders still flexed upwards when using a hi lift. If you truly want 100% bolt on, mobtown is the way to go.

 

This is good real world experience, and a little disappointing to hear. Do you think All-Pro is a lower quality product, or is the problem endemic to bolt-on sliders that don't have Mobtown's frame reinforcement and their two types of mounting? I'm not trying to slam All-Pro, but I've been under the impression that all these bolt-on sliders were pretty good. I was planning on buying a lighter - and cheaper - slider than Mobtown, but I'm starting to reconsider. (A more personal factor for me is that one of the vendors I listed is local, so I don't have to pay shipping to get them.)

 

They were great sliders, and built really well. These specific ones were their apex line, which is their best ones. I think the slight flex is just a characteristic of bolt on sliders in general, but I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe @Mobtown Offroad can chime in and give some input.
