Whistling noise at highway speeds - any fix for this?

I had the tsb done to plug the holes on the undercarriage - this did not solve the whistling noise I hear on the highway or on a windy day. I thought maybe it's the antenna on the roof or the side mirrors. It is very loud and annoying

 

Do you hear it with the windows shut or only when they are open?

 

All the windows shut - you can even hear it with the radio on. It's a hum/whistle noise

Could be control arm whistle. I've got the dealership ordering 6 plugs for me, but they've been on backorder for the last couple of months. I've put 10k miles on my truck since then.

 

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I'd prefer not to plug the holes. Any chance you could post a picture of where to place that silicone bead?

 

They come from the Factory plugged now and no worry about trapped water cause only 3 holes get plugged.

 

Interesting that my 2017 (April) came from the factory with only 2 holes plugged. (4 total)

 

For the plugs do I actually have to go into the dealership and have them look at it or can I just call and order them? I'd hate to waste time hanging around for something that's a known issue AND a pretty simple fix.

 

Are you running stock tires?

 

Mine was made in March of this year in Texas and has 6 plugged, maybe they were running short the day yours was made?

 

Mine is a 17 made 06/17 and only has 4 plugged as well

Wow, maybe they used Kaizen and did an Action Workout and figured that they can get away only using 4 plugs instead. 2 plugs X 200,000 trucks saves them a few dollars.

 

Welp, don't know how I missed that, but I swear if I get those plugs and I'm still getting a whistle imma throw some hands. How do you not test a truck in a wind tunnel with a cross wind? How do you miss this is QA and Dev?

 

Lol they must. I have a low pitch whistle as well and it changes as I drive thru a crosswind and such. mainly occurs between 25-36mph. Researched and found someone on here that bought 9/16 plugs from lowes to plug theirs. I found some for $1 and will try them in the remaining 2 holes they left open. We shall see what happens!

 

Roll down the window, put one foot on the window sill and both hands on the top of the the door frame and give it a yank. Calibrating the yank to correct tweak level w/o folding the door is the tricky part but it worked on my '99 Ranger.* Some roadside service techs use an air wedge to open the gap at the top of the door enough to slide a probe down to the door lock switch and this can tweak the door. A well calibrated yank can reverse that tweak. In the 16 years/300k mi I had that truck I had to repeat that yank once more after the dog hit the lock button the first time but it did close the gap and eliminate the draft and noise.
