2.7 can only haul groceries. I wouldn't recommend using it for your purpose unless you want to reduce the engine and transmission's lifespan.

Even the 4.0 struggles with hauling at times, so I can imagine the 2.7 performing like it's strapped to a tree

I have towed 3500 lbs and it did okay but I wouldn't want to do it often 2000 lbs is not bad

I have pulled a 3500 trailer with my 99 4 banger and it was fine until you hit big hills

You'll know it's back there with the 4 banger. I've pulled a Polaris 6x6 with mine on a 6x12 and you know it's there but I have the 4.0 so I imagine you'll definitely know it's there with the 4 banger. Should be able to pull it though. I just wouldn't want to for a long trip.

If you tow smart. 4 banger will pull all day everyday.

I'd head over to the 4 Cylinder section or the 5 Lug section for an honest opinion from guys that have actually hauled with theirs. As opposed to guys that just like to bash the 2.7L

I don't see anyone on here bashing. I had a 2.7 1st gen and hauled a 3000 lb enclosed trailer with it. I've driven a 2nd gen 4 banger DCSB. I've hauled basically the same thing as he's trying to haul in my 2nd gen 4.0. o_O

Tow limit should be around 3,500# and requiring brakes over 1,000# per the manual(state laws vary). Just know your weight of the trailer, RZR and any other gear. If this is going to be a regular thing, I would suggest visiting a truck scale and getting your actual weights. Keep it safe and legal

The 2.7L will do it - not very fast, but it'll get the job done. It's a tough little motor.

Drive smart and leave extra room for braking and you should be fine. Make sure to get some weight toward the tongue since it's so light.

Edit: Factory hitch or towing from bumper?

Youll have no issues. I haul 2 quads with mine and could probably haul 2 more with no issues lol

I have a small utility trailer I tow with my 2.7. As long as you leave it in 3rd instead of Drive, you'll be alright.

It all depends on the weight OP. I'm guessing you'll be fine as long as you plan ahead with your shifts.

    Total bullshit nonsense.

I've had a full yard worth of ready mix concrete(4000lbs) in the bed of my truck. It handled it just fine. Also have driven a Ford 9n tractor on a trailer behind which total was definitely close to 6000. Load smart, and if you understand the dynamics of weight transfer in the corners, you will be just fine.

I agree with Misfit. I have personal hauled 1500 pounds with my 4 banger before and had no problems. I Have hauled more when the back was loaded with firewood to the point where the back end was squatting but and as long as you are careful and understand the affects of having additional weight in or behind your vehicle you will be fine. It is much easier with a manual just take your time on take offs and dont ride the clutch. A word of advice is to stay under the 3500 pound tow limit and use engine braking to your advantage if possible.

2.7's tow just fine. Mine's rated for 7500lbs
