Auto Trans. Issues???

I have a 2005 DC auto with 55,000 and I'm not sure if what is occuring is common? It's hard to explain, but I'll try! When I stop or go, it feels like the vehicle jerks just a little. Not while shifting, but when I come to a complete stop and start again. It also seems to do it when I shift it into park? If it's an issue, I'd like to have it addressed prior to warranty expiring. Any help?

 

Mine does it too. I havnt though about it. I guess it is normal. I am sure some other will chime in.

 

For these trucks....it's normal.

It's the transmission 'downshifting' late after you come to a stop. What you feel is the rpm surge into the lower gear.

If you search this forum or even google - using "Tacoma Lurch" - amoung other things that its been called. You'll find tons of information about it.

My mother-in-laws Grand Cherokee does the same thing and more obvious than the tacoma.

i think some of it has to do with the two piece drive shaft, its just some slack that your feeling, had a ranger that did the same thing

 

Grease your (drive) shaft! Just did mine last week, and it got rid of most of the "jerk" when stopping/starting.

 

I had mu 05 DC at the dealer last week to have them look at that same problem. I was told that is normal

 

I thought axle wrap was often linked to vibrations while under hard acceleration from 0-25ish mph. Ive also get the "Lurch" every now and then. As long as you've got your foot on the brake and its depressed firmly, you shouldn't find your Taco eating someones rear end.

 

my 2006 DC 4x4 does this also, and sometimes when i put it in park as well, I think its normal... doesnt do it all the time, and NEVER in the winter when it cold only when it gets warm outside....i think its the 2 peice drive shaft, JMO.
