The ram on these 4Runner jacks (with the top cap deleted) will fit perfectly inside my SafeJack 6 ton jack extension with a 1.25" I.D.
I'm trying to avoid a hydraulic bottle jack, which may leak. Plus, the mechanical jack can act as a jack stand.
    IMG_0782.jpg

I'm using your recommended SafeJack Universal 60" Hi-Lift Combo Stabilizer Kit that can also hold a plate for a bottle jack.

Is this different than the one that comes on our tacomas? Mine looks just like the one in the pic.

Yeah. The ram on our Taco jacks are much bigger than 1.25"

I just recently found out that Toyota will use different manufacturers for the same model year Toyota vehicles. The lift height and weight capacities will be similar, but the ram diameters is not spec'd by Toyota. Hence the different ram sizes and the different part numbers.

Ahhh, gotcha. So if someone could fab up something similar to the safejack, but with the proper diameter, our jacks would work? Seems like an opportunity to make money for a fabricator around here.

Here's a pic with the jack/extension bolted directly into a plywood base. I can add/subtract plywood layers depending on additional height needed.
    IMG_0791.jpg

No real need to get the SafeJack base, unless you use the base as part of the Hi-Lift stabilizing system (I have used this on my last wheeling trip.)

HA, great pic. I looked up a video of the hi-lift stabilizer in action, and that looks like a must have for anyone that has a hi-lift. I know I'll get one when the time comes. Hi-lifts are sketchy enough as it is.

I'm glad to see they pinned it I had just told EST it needed to be pinned for safety it would be nice if it could be pinned to the jack itself also

Just trying to make sure my nifty multi-layered plywood base (patent pending) doesn't grow legs and wander off to the Tent-Mahal. LOL

Actually, the Subway letters index how the plywood layers come back together if separated. The bottom plywood layer has a countersunk hole for the two bolts that hold all together. The top two layers contain the captured tee-nuts that you can bolt the bottle jack directly into.

Note that even the nuts that hold the plywood layers together is labelled with the socket size (11 mm.) LOL.

Just speeds up the process in the field. Requires less thinking...

    I'm all about less thinking.

Also, note the green paint on Hi-Lift stabilizer base, the Hi-Lift Jack Base and the clevis cable pins. Allows quick I.D. for orientation of jack base and install of clevis pins in the field.

Not really pinned Chris. All force generated is mostly downward, so pinning is not really necessary. The extension has two inches of engagement with the jack ram. The fit is very secure, with almost no play (which is why it was important to me that I get a jack with a 1.25" diameter.)

With no play, the system will also deal with lateral/side-to-side movement. How much, I can't really say. It does feels pretty safe and secure IMO.
    IMG_0873.jpg

The pin that you see is the "adjustable extension" accessory, which adjusts 3 steps via holes in the extension and a clevis pin, with a stepped range between 8.5" - 12"

The extensions on the ground in front of the bottle jack are fixed heights of 3" and 6"
    IMG_0791.jpg

All this shit is pretty spendy.

When I ask the wife to buy me LED lights for the truck... she rolls her eyes.

When I ask her to buy me safety equipment...

... the stuff magically appears on our doorstep in a couple of days.

I tried to tell her that LED lights are for safety...

... she didn't buy that. LOL.

OOH - I got that. Recently heard in an interview that low beam headlights are designed for driving up to (I've forgotten the specific #) some low speed like 30 or 34 MPH. So if she is okay with you driving 35 mph or more, the LED lights become safety equipment as you can't use your high beams pretty much anywhere. :)

    From Toyota Global:
    http://www.toyota-global.com/innova...ty_technology/technology_file/active/ahb.html

High beams are automatically activated when all of the following conditions are met simultaneously:

    • Vehicle speed is 30km/h or more (30km/h = 18.64 mph)
    • Area in front of vehicle is dark
    • No oncoming headlights
    • No tail lights in front of vehicle
    • No strong lighting, from street lights, etc., ahead of vehicle
