New England B.S. Thread

I've been in New England for 30+ years and haven't found a cheesesteak as good as I can get almost anywhere back home in Philly. Not that there aren't good sandwiches up here - just not as good.

Lobster rolls are a different story. My wife is a lobster snob, and she says the lobster rolls at McDonald's and D'Angelos are both surprisingly good.

 

You need to try one from TC Lando's in Hudson or Clinton.

 

I go to the Lando's in Acton. It's pretty good.

 

Funny you mention that.
My BIL had a Mc Donalds Lobster Roll couple weeks back. He said it was pretty good, and he used to be a Lobsterman.
Pretty good considering what restaurants around here want for one. I see them going for $18-22 bucks locally.

I've actually never eaten lobster before.

I do like a lot of seafood. Just something about picking apart a giant swimming cockroach looking thing doesn't appeal to me. Maybe if the meat was already off of it.

From a few years ago now; Seth used to anchor Weekend Update on SNL after Jimmy Fallon left. I never really liked either of them as much as Colin Quinn, personally.

I think Red's in Wiscassett is $25 for a roll now, aren't they?

 

My family does baked stuffed lobsters probably 6 times a year. Personally, I am not a fan to steamed lobster, but a baked stuffed (and lobster rolls) I get down with.

Best burrito goes to California Burritos in nashua. Hope in the wall, but the meat is always cooked so well.

 

My grandparents live on the coast, up in Milbridge. They're literally 2 minutes from a lobster pound where you can buy lobster fresh off of the boat. When I was a kid every time we'd go to visit they'd do a big lobster bake. I always had a cheeseburger, lol.

Not liking lobster when you live in Maine is almost tragic, haha!

 

Sounds like you need a lobster roll. We have Yankee Lobster down the street and they make awesome rolls but they're pricey. They make a hot, cold and fried version.

I work on the Fish Pier in Boston now. There's a place I can get lobsters a day or 2 out of the ocean and all different types of fish. It's a stinky place to work but there are some perks.

 

We will have to take a road trip up to TC Landos in Hudson. I used to go to Carl's in waltham that is owned by the same people. They make a great steak and cheese.

I make it on the grill all the time. Wood fired grill (get it very hot), cut live lobsters right down the middle (kinda brutal but you can take the rubber bands off to give them a sporting chance if you like), scoop out the yucky stuff from the body, brush with whatever you want for lube- I like making a tarragon butter with lots of fresh black pepper and then put them shell side down for about 10 minutes depending how hot your grill is. Then flip meat side down just to give them grill marks- 4 minutes or so. They are $4.99 a lb right now at Market Basket so I've been eating a lot of lobster.

 

So when can we all come over for some of that?

 

Are thier lobster rolls in butter or mayo?
