What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

That magnetic tray is the coolest feature on that thing. Very useful when you are working under the hood.

Have had earlier model before emblems and with the hood prop cutout. Like it just to have a place to set tools. Didn't opt for the magnetic tray tho. Noticed absolutely no change in temps in any season but wasn't the point for me.....more for filling in the big empty between grill and radiator..............

 

I used black BBQ paint on mine. Removed the grill and taped off the parts I didn't want to paint. For the lower part of the supports I used a cheap felt trim pad. Sprayed the pad then used it like a big marker to paint behind the lower bumper.
No issues with cooling, but since I only painted the supports I didn't expect any. Might be different if you paint the fins, but I wouldn't do that.

 

I've been thinking about doing this as well. Good idea about using the trim pad since rattle-canning would be a hassle with the overspray.

 

Do it. It's really easy and changes the look, especially if you have a mesh grill. But even if you have the OEM grill, it still looks awesome.

I did just the vertical bar on the left side of the radiator

Did you actually spray the front part of the radiator as well meaning the mesh area?

Get something that says it's for high temps. Spray it with a coat or two, and you're good to go.

 

Cool, just wanted to make sure that getting paint on the actual cooling mesh of the radiator wouldn't cause any heating/cooling issues.

 

Nope, not that I know of. @EatSleepTacos actually posted something last night, when we were having some back and forth about this, showing it actually "helped".
