Pulled this from the US Forest Service's post on Facebook. Just in case anybody was planning on running these trails this weekend!

"Starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, the Boulder Ranger District will close the Middle St. Vrain and Coney Flats roads [National Forest System Roads 114.1 (Middle St. Vrain), 507.1, 507.1A, 507.1B, 507.1C, and 507.1D (Coney Flats)]. The closure is due to health and safety concerns caused by wet and deteriorating conditions, and to make emergency road repairs. It is estimated that repair work may take up to two weeks to complete.

Thanks for your support with the emergency repairs!"

I could see this. The late season moisture has created many large puddles. ATV riders were bypassing the 2 large ones on the MSV side. The MSV hole were getting really large cutouts that could possibly be impossible for an ATV.

I think they need to start requiring classes for OHV travel. To get your tags you have to sit through a STT class so the "I didn't know" excuse is no longer valid. This should be required for out of state drivers/riders also. Highway vehicles should be required to carry OHV stickers and attend the same classes. Do I want this, no, I want trail closure to happen less though.

Or just put it on the form/application/whatever. "What do you mean you didn't know, it's right there on the license you signed. Not our fault you didn't read what you signed, here's your ticket."

I think there should be a 10-15 minute video that goes along with that on the form to get the sticker. Education prior to infraction is key to keeping the areas undamaged.

We have discussed this same thing recently after seeing more and more off-trail driving and illegal bypasses. The one up on Hancock pass was particularly cringe-worthy.

There also needs to be stiffer penalties for people who take the class and still do those things, or are found without an OHV sticker and not taken the class. Problem is there's very few people out to enforce anything. It's kinda up to those of us who care to help out.

To be honest I want the cost of this for out-of-staters to be significant and money should go to maintaining trails, etc.

This came up for sale last night on a Facebook room that I happened to be watching. It hit me right in the feels so I had to snatch it up. Didn't haggle because of my instant attachment as it embodies me and how I came to be where I am today.........

Anyone know where I can get solar eclipse glasses in the Denver area? I've checked Walmart, lowes, and 7-Eleven all are sold out
