So basically the recalls become fewer and fewer as the vehicle progresses in model years but the first model year of a new generation has the most recalls.
So if you hate dealing with recalls you should wait 3-5 years into the generation cycle before buying that particular model.

Yes, that happens on 99.9% of every auto sold. Most kinks get worked out within the first couple of years of the newest generation.

Even if the drive train and motor hold up to 250,000 miles the cheap flimsy metals and plastics used will probably disintegrate long before.

If you feel better and you have the time to get to the stealer even though you're more than able to diy, go for it!

But as for me, I know there's always the added possibility of additional damage done to my vehicle by the wrong hands. You know, things dings, an attendant playing around with it, or some green horn using an impact instead of a torque wrench among many other possibilities for other damages and headaches.

Instead, I'll handle it myself if a simple enough matter, and give TOYOTA my $.02 opinion on their QC.

And I know they see us so here it goes:

TOYOTA, stop with the loose fasteners already!!! It sucks!!! Initiate better QC and FIRE those that screwed up and make it better!!

There, I vented, I feel good now :)

    I'm done.

    Now back to the topic.

Will this vehicle be as reliable as the 1st and 2nd gen??

    Cheers!

How's that any different from any other Toyota ever made? Serious. Old Toyota's just don't exist in the north typically.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
So, has anyone asked where the problem vehicles are originating from? It sounds very very much like a quality control issue. When the 05s came out, was there as much demand as there is now? A hypothetical situation exists.

We know that Toyota has stated it's opening another factory for Tacoma. That means there is more demand placed on workers. More work means more failures in QA (quality assurance) And more failures in quality control (qc).

I see this quite frequently in the firearms world. Guns that have a high demand and are rushed out the door are not done right.

Toyota should slow production until QA and QC are restored.
They make and design a great product.

Also, there are far more people buying the first and second year production models of the third gen. These people are paying a premium for these midsize trucks. That's causing people to notice every small detail that could be wrong with the truck (perceived and actual issues)

I think this truck will last, just like every other Toyota made. That's thier biggest selling point.

Toyota's reputation will hold up on these, time will tell I suppose.

@tacoflavoredkisses1 - I am quoting your message because it points to something I have seen before on TW, and not to single you out.

Members of TW who are not happy with their 3rd gen Tacoma are using this forum (powerful tool) to somehow try to bash Toyota. This is their right, as anyone can post whatever they like as long as they do not violate the TW COC- got it.

However, the rest of us who are happy/ not having problems have to listen to the repeated posting over and over about this. We are subject to somebody else using this forum as a means to hurt Toyota.

Maybe you can understand how this gets old, and is irritating?

Also, anyone who repeatedly posts their displeasure here as a means to "get Toyota off their asses so as to change the tenor of this forum" is probably not helping themselves.

TW is a great resource, and I hope you and everyone here having issues will get them fixed, one way or another.

There is a very very simple solution for you mi friend its called a MUTE function that I seen plenty of people use on here. You complain about people constantly posting about stuff yet you do the same thing. If ya don like what they say move on or ignore it then you dont see it!

I think the ignore list is "silly" and will probably never ignore anybody here- I like you all too much....

As far as me complaining about people constantly, I will leave that to everyone here to say for themselves- we are all adults here, correct? lol

I'm sure most think it's silly but there's comes a point when you just become
one of the posters you can't stand to see post. Kinda makes for a shitty forum
if it's just a bunch of ppl bitching back and forth.....about bitching.

I said fuk it long ago, use the feature for it's intended purpose and enjoy the place. I've
tried removing it for a couple of them that do nothing but complain when I see something
interesting but when 98% of their posts are just spewing negative shit, it's time to move on.

of course you could guage, wavy hood, epileoptic trans,MPGs IF YOU HAD DONE YOUR PRE BUYING RESEARCH AND TEST DRIVE properly before putting down your money on it. Its buying a new car not Rocket science. I hope you enjoy the Silverado while its still new because you will soon find out that GM has 700,000 recalls going, this is good info before buying to know about your vehicle for those too lazy to do so.http://money.cnn.com/2017/08/05/news/companies/gm-recall-chevy-trucks/index.html cheers!! hope this helped

I didn't know sheep could backtalk. Huh.

As for ignore, I have only used it once and that was only for a guy who made a homophobic comment in a pm. Guy is a moron so no loss, but I actually like hearing people's complaints, I just don't want to have to listen to them repeatedly.

Plus I might miss out on some sweet memes.

If somebody continuously posts things that I do not want to see or read, I ignore them. Simple as that. As for those who cannot bear to disengage and obsess over individuals' opinions...well.... I guess they can't figure it out.

I don't get the big deal about recalls unless it is an excessive amount that causes trip after trip to the dealer or needing extended time in rental cars. At least the manufacturers are admitting there is an issue and want to fix it and make it right.
