Which dirt road are you talking about? FYI, Cottonwood Pass is closed for the season, they're paving the east side of it. If you're talking about Schofield... you have bigger cojones than I :D

Pearl/Taylor Pass. I did Schofield about 3 weeks ago, wasn't bad at all.

That's a smart idea. If you are moving to Oregon might want to consider clear bra. Depending on where you go Many places use crushed lava rock instead of sand. Some the size of a nickel.

If you get the stuff that can self heal from small stuff it works great. I did the entire front area from the front of the hood down, behind rear wheels and mirrors. Bug deflector help with the hood.

I did the same thing with XPEL brand from 503 Motoring. I also added the door cups, door edges, and rocker panels. Definitely recommended in Oregon.

I kinda want to add a hood deflector on this Sport but I just don't know how it will look for one. I had one on my MGM 4Runner and have had them in the past. The thing is, nowadays, they just don't have enough vertical surface area to do them justice. If it has enough then it really keeps the bugs off the windshield, light to moderate snow and rain too. My 4Runner had a Stampede and it was not enough. Lotsa Bugs!

And not to mention, the hood deflector would really cancel out the benefits of the hood scoop. :stirthepot:

So far it's holding up great and has definitely saved my truck. In Ohio now so slowly getting there. Still have a long ways to go.

Oh nice! I've always been scared away from Schofield by all the horror stories. In my truck I've done the west side in from marble past crystal mill to the mouth of the canyon, and the east side to the entrance to the canyon, but I've just never done the couple hundred yards inside the canyon.

Heads up: as of August 11th Pearl Pass had snow up top that was impassable. Plenty of storms have been rolling through the area since then, but I have no idea if they dumped rain or snow, so I don't know if the pass is clear yet. Either way, you should film your journey through there! I've always wanted to do that pass in the truck!

Do you think the diff breather is really necessary though?

Try not to break any bones or get the measles. Avoid fording rivers it's always a craps shoot.

If you plan on ever submerging your diff in water then yes. Other than that it's peace of mind.

Damn. You'd think they'd take that into account with the TRDOR. I've got 36,000 miles on the truck and have probably fully submerged the rear diff 30 or so times. At 30k miles I had the dealer open up the rear diff (concerned about the diff breather as well as rumors about the factory not filling them fully with fluid) and they said everything looked fine... oh well. Another project to add to the to do list
