Tacoma Bumper Popped off... dealer asking for 10k

What dealership freaked out about plasti dip?

 

I know this is a 3rd gen thread, but i just replaced my 2nd gen rear bumper cover, reinforcement bar, and all the screws (kept the plastics) for under $300 shipped to my door.

 

Is it popped off or misaligned?

 

I couldn't wrap my head around wtf was wrong with this thread, and then i realized I was in the 3rd gen forum.

 

I smell something fishy. Checked with the cook, and she swears she's not opened any tuna or anchovy paste.

So OP, your photos in your album have a 3rd that is not in your post that would be helpful for folks.

It's an issue of alignment/body gaps. Just like if you were installing a bumper, it takes some effort to get it right.

In this case it would appear there are one of two things wrong.

Either the bumper needs adjusting or the bed needs adjusting. Or maybe a bit of both, depending on how the bed to cab alignment looks.

I'm not sure I'm buying the dealership story though. That would qualify them as the most absurd dealer in the universe.

So are they are pranking a customer they don't want to be bothered with, or you are pranking us?

 

Tell them to find evidence that you worked on any part of your bumper , then tell they can talk to your lawyer

 

Umm I was rear ended and my bumper was replaced and the insurance was charged 1000. My is a sport and it had to be painted. Either you mis understood them or I would never go to that dealer again. I feel this is a troll thread.

 

i remember toyota mentioning that the bumper is now 3 pieces so that if you only damage
one side you only have to replace that one side and not the whole thing, to help save you money.
maybe that dealership quoted you with the decimal point in the wrong place.... ?

 

No, the whole bumper is 30k, he only needs a third, hence the $10k.

I am not pranking you sir. And the third photo in the album is the other side, which I thought would upload with the post on here but uploaded as an album. I'll get info back on what they were saying and all as soon as my dad gets back from the dealer now. I just posted this up quick after i heard them quote that because I was like that's not right.

 

I'm not trolling /: just posted it up since i was confused over the pricing too. I will update as soon as I get more info tonight.

 

Hey guys, I just got back from the dealer and they wanted to charge me $695 for an oil change, and they're going to use maple syrup. I was all like, what the heck?

I had a similar issue with a local Pontiac dealer (yea, they are no longer in business). They quoted me over $1000 to fix an air conditioner under warranty. I took it to a different dealer who said "yea, this is under warranty".
