There were divers on site, and it was at a established government location. I do not know the recoil of the situation, I had all ready quit to go work another site at the time. Its just a good thing he swung away from the 10 people under it 2 min before hand!!

 

When I was about to move out here, I had no gf, no house and had quit my job. I almost became an underwater welder because i thought i was tough shit and had nothing to lose.

That last sentence made me realize that getting hit with a half ton of steel while at the bottom of a lake would be fucking terrifying.

 

Your chance of survival under water would be better than standing on the ground.

 

I had to go the Craigslist route to get my solar glasses. Some dude bought 400 and is selling them for $10 a pop. Dammit I always miss these money making opportunities!

I was just a runt then too. So it was probably more thrilling than than it would be now.

 

I'm glad my wife didn't request to go down to Oregon. I'd have said no anyway because, we were just there.

I think I'm just going to take the Backcountry Discovery Route from Walla Walla to where ever I end up in Central Oregon if traffic stays this bad (going to Walla Walla for a wedding this weekend).

 

True - totality is only ~2 minutes long. The entire eclipse including partial coverage is ~2 hours.

 

I just talked to someone down there they said the news is blowing shit way out of proportion which I'm fine with maybe it will scare people away
