No, haven't driven a 3rd gen. Kind of afraid to venture into a showroom to look at them... you know, and risk having those impure thoughts about trading in my truck...

Im guessing you dont do any wheeling.

Also, I own a 500hp Toyota Soarer and a BMW M3. Neither of which are boring, and neither of which I wish I could "press a button and get to where I need to go". Yet still I am sooo happy i got a manual tacoma.

Since we're just having fun with inane generalizations...

Dudes that think they're busting on someone else's manliness because of their transmission choices are the same that do the following:
    - Pee sitting down
    - have GFs frequently leaving them
    - think Tinder is a place to meet quality people
    - Think tribal tattoos are cool and everything else is lame
    - Plays enough video games to even know what the heck you're talking about on this one
    - has girls break up with him via text
    - doesn't need a nightlight because he's living in his parent's house and knows mommy is in the next room to protect him

    Too few to list.
You don't need someone to make an argument for manual trans. With the new 3.5, test drive both the manual and the auto and you will know what to get instantaneously.

No, I am sure if I wheeled it would be different but never got into it for some reason.

If I didnt take my TRD OFF-ROAD OFF ROAD at all, then yes, it would be a super boring vehicle.

Thats like saying you can't take your GTR1400 over 30mph. WHATS THE POINT?!?!?!

Glad you cleared that up. The s mode limits how high of gear the truck can shift to.

I'd actually say that the difference between the tacoma transmission and the wrx is not going to be as different as you might think. I came from a GTI and the transmission feels the same besides the heavier clutch/flywheel, which isn't really something you notice. Have driven a WRX for quite some time as well (frequently car swap with a friend), I think you'll feel the tacoma transmission is pretty similar.

very cool, but the wheel setup isn't my thing. Still, such a unique vehicle. Nice.

Wait, why are we comparing a WRX transmission to a Tacoma? Apples to Oranges.

I think if you live in a hilly, country area, manual is your best best if you enjoy driving. If you just wanna get where you are going, get auto.

If you live in a flat area, traffic, in town, automatic is your choice by far.

Also to consider if you go offroading. Manual is harder offroad but when you figure it out it, it is great to have the control.

Not sure I understand your explanation (not being a smartass). As far I'm concerned the only thing different from the "shiftable auto's" I have driven is that it starts you off in 4th gear. Other than that it seems to be the same thing as a 911 gt3, other than the obvious shift times (pdk bla bla bla). I can go all the way to 6th gear in sport mode, so I'm not sure what you mean by it limits how high of a gear it can go to.
