Removed mine and nope don't regret it at all. Looks a lot better without need the color to break up the black window tint.

I'm not crazy about mine. But after a few days out in national forest in the fall after a summer's worth of foliage growth, I had pinstriping all over the damn thing on the passenger side from medium height branches. so I kept it on to protect the paint. I think if it keeps getting gouged and looks bad I'll just take it off and put new one on or just Dip it with a few coats of flat black. Or by the time it fades, the truck itself will be so pinstriped I won't care anymore.

I'm a professional and I use a propane torch (ts-4000) but a heat gun works better than a hair dryer, but a nice shiny summer day seems to work real well. Be careful of goof-off, it can melt your paint. I prefer orange peel adhesive remover.

Exactly how I did mine. Nice hot day it peeled right away in one piece. I have seen others struggle with hair dryers but maybe I got lucky. Probably one of my favorite things I've done to my truck. That vinyl bugged me before I even drove her off the lot.

On a hot day in Phoenix the black vinyl would blister your fingers.

I would 100% remove it. It was very lazy/cheap from Toyota to begin with seeing as they didn't bother modifying the rear Drivers and Front Passenger door window angles to be 90 degrees. Look at the Tundra and you can see it is properly done by attaching a molding that goes straight across both doors in between and adding durable plastic (not cheap a** vinyl) like 1000s of models of cars since the mid 90s.

In my opinion Toyota rushed the hell out of this Design. Still waiting on Spec B 3rd gen.

Yea I think a lot of people mistake GoofOff for GooGone. Two completely different products, GooGone is a citrus based adhesive remover and works great for stickers and vinyl decal residue.

    Hey everyone

First post here! I just got my 2017 TRD Sport and didn't realize until a couple days after bringing it home that it only has the B-pillar vinyl on the driver side... Every other Tacoma that I've seen has it on both sides. Is there a reason for it not being there or did they just forget to put it on?

Uhm, did you buy it new? If you did, someone fell asleep at the plant. If you bought it used then the previous owner took one side off. Why? We will never know! I really wanted to post some wise ass comment but resisted.lol

    Woah that's weird.

Did you buy it from a dealer? I'd give them a call...

Thanks for the replies guys! Yes, I bought it new on the lot. I didn't even notice it because I had never seen one without having it on both sides so just assumed I suppose. I was planning on heading over to the dealership tonight or tomorrow. Seems very odd

Yea, I'd really like to see the results of a dealer trying to replace that vinyl piece with the way it wrapped around the edges. Good luck.

I'll see what they say and do... hopefully they'll work something out. I'll do an update later on!

I was just thinking getting them to acknowledge they sold the vehicle like that. Toyota corporate should probably be on the line for that one.

I'd be afraid there was a reason it's missing like they replaced the doors for some reason.
