clutch problem need some help

I have a 96 taco with the 2.4 and my clutch has been sticking bad lately. I know I need a new one but my question is what is the best clutch to get?

let me be very clear in this, as i replaced my fathers last year before deploying.


DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOYOTA.


ill see if i can find the thread of the bull crap i went through, keep in mind i am a mechanic in the marines. YES its a little more expensive however the truck went its first 222k miles on it, so spend a little more and get it back.

i was confused that any aftermarket clutch i bought for my dad would not fit and no one had the same problem, freak issue maybe? whatever it was it frustrated me

 

I know this isn't a toyota but we put a NAPA clutch in my old bronco and it worked great.

 

make no mistake i have no problem with advance, auto zone, napa, car quest, as i shop there often, but this one time i had a problem with them all on the same thing. Just an experience i didnt enjoy.

Don't have any issues with my clutch from advance auto either. Just because manuals say to ONLY USE TOYOTA PARTS, doesn't mean you have to. there are just as good parts out there if not better than toyota oem parts. hhmmm...??? $600 "toyota" clutch versus a $280 clutch from advance that will last the same amount of time. I know which one I picked and it has been doing just fine. I'd go broke if I replaced all my parts with toyota's brand parts. Just my $.2 do what you want though.

 

I don't know who has been ripping you off but i paid $330 for the clutch, and in case you missed the link i posted it had nothing to do with a manual saying use "Toyota oem parts". Try reading a little more before posting.

Sorry if I worded my response wrong, but I wasn't just trying to point a finger at you or flame you. If you took it that way then I apologize. But I did see where you said that it was your personal opinion......BUT..... you also made it perfectly clear with capital letters "DON'T BUY ANYTHING BUT TOYOTA". Seems to me that it wasn't just your opinion. You were making it very very clear to viewers to purchase toyota parts only. I'm just trying to make it "financially sound" that you don't ONLY have to buy toyota parts for something to last and hold up. there are PLENTY of people out there that stick strictly to what toyota says in their manual with parts and service. Its a money racket if you ask me. Once again.... I wasn't trying to flame your response originally. Sorry if it seemed that way.

 

If my words came off wrong i apologize, i routinely use a local parts dealer for parts replacement when needed, this was juts a time that they all failed me for some reason. No business or the dealership could explain why they wouldn't bolt up. As for longevity, i guess ive never owned a vehicle long enough to see if a aftermarket clutch last as long as the OEM, if you do happen to have the same issue i did you know how to resolve it.

its all good bro'. first of all thank you for serving the country. My brother served 2 tours in iraq and 1 tour in afghanistan for the army as a helicopter maintenance crew supervisor or whatever the corps title is. sorry for the finger pointing misinterpretations btw in the earlier posts. once again.......
