Toyota recalling 228,000 Tacoma's due to oil leaks and possible loss of control of vehicle

That is a very real possibility.

Well I finally got mines done at Toyota of Orlando.

So looks like they just tightened the bolts.
Won't be purchasing this lease!

 

Send those photos to Toyota and tell them the dealer did not properly perform the recall--"Any sign of leakage, even very minor, is still leakage. Minor seepage is still considered a leak."

 

What did your service write up say?
There should be a list of parts and what they did.

 

No parts lists, I checked the differential when I returned home.
Disappointing!

 

All they did was tighten the "differential bolts" (which are actually nuts, but expecting a dealer to know the difference is a bit much), which in all honestly is all I would have done--in my garage without a trip to the dealer). It is nonetheless NOT what the recall explicitly, and in no unambiguous terms, calls for...

 

I'd take it to another dealer. That dealer did not correctly address your RO.

 

Climbed under my Taco today, first time since I got it back a couple of weeks ago, dry as a bone. Let's hope it stays that way.

 

Heres mine just today. 7756 miles on the truck and on the recall list. They sent me home with it and ordered parts. No waiver signed.

its not dripping yet but i will keep an eye on it. if it starts ill probably end up dropping it off even though they said they wont give me a loaner. I actually don't know if they have too or not but that is what they said. Rodland Toyota of Everett WA

 

I think they have to give you a loaner.

 

That looks like a lot of that is coming from pinion seal.

 

Do you guys think i should have made them give me a loaner and keep it till the parts come in. I drive my truck 7 days a week to work and i have the family in it.

 

Sure is, most I've seen in this thread!

 

At least open the fill plug and see if your finger can find oil. If not, take it back for loaner. Should of been checked before tightening but you want to be sure.
